Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which prince of Monaco is well-known in the United States for marrying actress Grace Kelly?

Answer: Rainier III

Prince Rainier III died in April 2005, but he accomplished quite a lot while he was alive. Most notably, he created economic industries in Monaco besides gambling, which went from accounting for 95 percent of the nation's income at the start of his reign to 3 percent by the end.
2. Which football stadium is the home grounds for the Buckinghamshire-based Wycombe Wanderers?

Answer: Adams Park

Adams Park is also home to the Wasps, London's Guinness Premiership Rugby team.

Boleyn Ground (also known as Upton Park) is home to West Ham United, Elland Road is the grounds for Leeds United, and Twickenham Stadium houses England's national rugby team.
3. What is the default screen font of both Windows 2000 and Windows XP?

Answer: Tahoma

Tahoma was developed in 1994 by Matthew Carter and released with Verdana on Windows 95. It is often used as an alternative to Arial.
4. Which London street gives its name to Gerry Rafferty's biggest hit song, as well as the location of Sherlock Holmes' residence?

Answer: Baker Street

"Baker Street" appeared on the album "City to City", which spawned Rafferty's other major hit in the U.S., "Right Down the Line".

"Penny Lane" and "Abbey Road" were both smash hit songs for The Beatles, and "Electric Avenue" was Eddy Grant's only song that charted in the United States.
5. What word is shared by a national park in Montana, Alaska, and British Columbia?

Answer: Glacier

Glacier National Park is the only national park entirely within Montana (Yellowstone National Park is also in Montana, but it is shared by Idaho and Wyoming). Glacier National Park, British Columbia contains Rogers Pass, which was vital for establishing major transportation routes within Canada. Glacier Bay National Park, located in southeastern Alaska, is inaccessible by road and is usually traveled to by air.
6. Which television series was followed by a prequel airing almost 30 years after the end of the original series, titled "Ponderosa"?

Answer: Bonanza

"Bonanza" was set on Ponderosa, a fictional ranch on Lake Tahoe in Nevada. It followed the adventures of the Cartwright family, including the father, Ben, played by Lorne Greene, and the youngest brother, Little Joe, played by Michael Landon. Landon later went on to star in the television series "Little House on the Prairie" and "Highway to Heaven".
7. Which "fifth Beatle" was a bassist?

Answer: Stuart Sutcliffe

Stuart Sutcliffe was The Beatles' first bassist, playing for fifteen months in 1960 and 1961. He was also an accomplished painter, mostly in the style of abstract expressionism.

Pete Best was The Beatles' original drummer, but he was replaced in 1962 by the more well-known Ringo Starr. Brian Epstein was the group's manager for most of their career, and he was instrumental in their success. George Martin was the producer for almost all of The Beatles' songs; he also wrote the score for their film "Yellow Submarine" and famously arranged the string backing of their song "Eleanor Rigby".
8. What is the final song performed in the Broadway musical "Avenue Q"?

Answer: For Now

"Avenue Q" was inspired by "Sesame Street" and is performed by a mixture of human and puppet actors, but it is pretty obvious just how much the musical differs from the kid-friendly atmosphere of "Sesame Street". There is a considerable amount of profanity and sex-related content present, so make sure you don't accidentally bring your 5-year-old to this play!
9. There is dispute about who was the first African-American woman to receive a patent. Some say it was Marjorie Joyner, but who is on the other end of this debate?

Answer: Sarah E. Goode

Sarah E. Goode received a patent on July 14, 1885 for a bed that folded up into a cabinet and could also be used as a roll-top desk and shelf, similar to the Murphy bed, which was patented in 1916. Marjorie Joyner invented a permanent wave machine in 1928, drawing inspiration from a pot roast that was inserted with rods to speed up the cooking process.

According to "The Guinness Book of World Records", Madam C. J. Walker was the first African-American woman to become a millionaire by her own achievements, founding a cosmetics empire. Lucille Bogan and Bessie Smith were both blues singers; the former recorded under the name "Bessie Jackson", and the latter is now known as "the Empress of the Blues".
10. The answers to questions 1-9 lead to a geographic location. Name it.

Answer: Washington

All parts of the common bond were the nine highest peaks in the state of Washington.

1. Mount RAINIER, 14,411 feet
