Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In 1970 The Stooges mentioned what kind of an eye?

Answer: T.V. Eye

"T.V. Eye" is the punkiest track on the Stooges' second album, "Fun House", which is one of the best records ever made. The Stooges were one of the bands that influenced the punk movement immensely. Their lead singer, Iggy Pop, is often referred to as 'the Godfather of Punk'.
2. In 1991 The Cramps found an eyeball in an unusual place.

Answer: Eyeball in my Martini

"Eyeball in my Martini" was on the Cramps' fifth official full length album, "Look Mom No Head". The Cramps were of enormous value for the revival of trashy old rock'n'roll. Without them there would have been no psychobilly movement, no Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and no bands like the 5.6.7.8's (see 'Kill Bill Vol.1').
3. Propaganda's biggest hit had a subtitle : "(Eye To Eye)". What was the single called?

Answer: Duel

"Duel (Eye To Eye)" was released in 1985. Propaganda had a few more minor hits with "P-Machinery" and "Dr. Mabuse" and then refused to know their place and go away; plodding on into the early 90s.
4. What is upon us according to The Masters Of Reality?

Answer: The Eyes Of Texas

"The Eyes of Texas" was a track on the self titled debut album of The Masters Of Reality, released in 1988. The band took their name from a Black Sabbath album, which you can hear in their music. Now Masters Of Reality is mainly a solo project for producer/singer/guitarist Chris Goss, with rotating personnel. Goss worked as producer for Auf Der Maur, Kyuss, Queens of the Stone Age, Soulwax and The Magnificent Bastards. Masters Of Reality was one of the first so-called "stoner rock" bands.
5. Propaganda wasn't the only band to go "Eye to Eye" with someone. This poppy punky female fronted band featured a song called just that on their debut album.

Answer: The Muffs

The Muffs were a garage band from L.A. Their first, self titled, album was released in 1993. It was a lot of fun. Then they blew it, went soft and refused to go away. The Pears was a shortlived American punkrock band, who released one single, as far as I know.

The Slits were one of the most important bands from the English '77 punk generation. And the Hooters were a bunch of ugly blokes that got played a few times on MTV.
6. Pussy Galore sang about some eye as well. What specific kind?

Answer: Evil Eye

"Evil Eye" was on their 1989 album with the title that cannot be mentioned on funtrivia.com. It begins with "Dial M"; look up the rest yourself. Pussy Galore featured Jon Spencer (Blues Explosion), Neil Haggerty (Royal Trux), Julia Cafritz (Free Kitten, Action Swingers) and Bob Bert (ex-Sonic Youth, Chrome Cranks).
7. Hardcore techno pioneers Underground Resistance found themselves in quite an unfortunate situation.

Answer: Eye of the Storm

Underground Resistance featured DJ Jeff Mills, "Mad" Mike Banks and Robert "Noise" Hood. Mills went solo to great acclaim. Mad Mike is keeping the Underground going, but his The Martian project is quite a bit more interesting. Robert Noise also keeps himself quite busy, releasing at least one record every year.
8. Since Limp Bizkit completely destroyed The Who's "Behind Blue Eyes" we won't mention that particular song. There's also a song called "Blue Eyes" though. Who sang that one?

Answer: Dogbowl

"Blue Eyes" was on the Dogbowl album "Tit (An Opera)", which was released in 1989. Dogbowl is the pseudonym for one Stephen Tunney, who used to be the guitarist in King Missile. King Missile used to be a really great band.
9. "Blue Eyes" were also mentioned by this English indie band that released 12 different singles during 1992, one each month. There was an original composition on the A-side and a cover on the flip.

Answer: The Wedding Present

The "Blue Eyes" 7" was backed with a cover of The Go-Betweens' "Cattle And Cane". Wedding Present singer David Gedge once got hit in the face by Courtney Love, for the crime of 'knowing Steve Albini'. Or so I've heard.
10. Of course we can't forget about the band that uses giant eyeballs as a disguise. No-one ever saw the real faces of this band, apart from their moms of course. Which clever parodists hide behind pale eyes?

Answer: The Residents

The Residents didn't always wear the eyeballs. In the beginning they used bags, newspapers and sea animals to obscure their identities. Only by the time of their 1979 album "Eskimo" did they resort to wearing eyeballs. Which they still do.
