Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "But we can't hide the truth, we know each other better." Which song is this lyric from?

Answer: Stay Gone

Jimmy got the inspiration for this song from a conversation he had with his sister, Patricia. She said she wished her husband would just 'stay gone'. Jimmy wrote it with Billy Kirsch.
2. "I'm kicking myself for being the one foolish enough, givin' him the chance to step in my shoes." Can you name the song?

Answer: Do You Believe Me Now

"Do You Believe Me Now" became the number one song on the Billboard Country Chart in the United States on September 8, 2008. It's the cover song for his second C.D. and was written by Joe West, Dave Pahanish, and Tim Johnson. Jimmy has said this song has changed his life.
3. "We were like a pair of shoes, you never saw one of us without the other, we were brothers but we weren't kin." What song is this lyric from?

Answer: Blue and Brown

This song is also based on real life. Jimmy used to work as a prison guard and one day a friend of his was sentenced there. Jimmy wrote this song with Jeremy Stover.
4. "So you're the one I've waited on, the one I've been dreaming of." What's the song?

Answer: I Will

Jimmy says this song is very personal for him. He says the line "I don't want to weigh you down like an anchor" reminds him of a relationship he once had with a long-time girlfriend. It was written by Dave Pahanish and Rory Lee Feek.
5. "His arms were stretched out as far as they go, nailed to the cross, for the whole world to know." Which song is this line from?

Answer: I Love You This Much

This song is loosely based on Jimmy's life, as his father left his family when he was a toddler. Jimmy plays as one of the actors in the music video for this song. He wrote this song with Chris Dubois and Don Sampson.
6. "Going through the mail on almost every afternoon I see a Mom and Dad's worst dream, there on the back of a money-saving ad to get my carpet cleaned," comes from which song?

Answer: Paper Angels

This song is about poor, abused, missing, etc. children and how Jimmy thinks it's our job to help them. Jimmy and his sister, Patricia, were paper angels when they were kids. (A paper angle tree is a Christmas tree where poor children put their name, age and what they want for Christmas on a paper angel so other people can buy them a present when their own parents/guardians are unable to.) This song was written by Jimmy and Don Sampson.
7. Which song was the line "I said 'Excuse me sir, I know you won't remember me. But try to imagine how I looked, when I just turned fifteen'," from?

Answer: Where You're Going

This song is very much based on Jimmy's life. Nearly everything that happened in the song actually happened to him when he was in college. When he was fifteen, he was put into a juvenile delinquent prison. Later, in college (this is where the song picks up) he tells the guard there about how he had been sentenced there once.

He says he likes the message this songs sends because he really believes that what matters is 'where you're going'. It was written by him and Don Sampson.
8. "Next mornin' at school, in yesterday's clothes, somebody'd be laughin', some girl'd be holdin' her nose," comes from which song?

Answer: Kerosene Kid

This is another song based on Jimmy's life. His mother was in and out of jail twice, so Jimmy grew up in a poor family. His mother being in jail and his father leaving them also meant that Jimmy and his sister lived in a lot of different group homes.
9. "I don't have lots of fame, and I won't be the biggest of names up on the marquee sign." This line is from which song?

Answer: That's All I'll Ever Need

This single was released in 2006. Jimmy wrote it with Martin Nesler.
10. What song is the line "And I keep running back to you, I don't know why I do. Something here just won't let me stay away," from?

Answer: No Good For Me

This song is a duet with Patty Loveless, one of Jimmy's favorite female country singers. This is another song that's personal to Jimmy because he once had a relationship with a girl like in the song. It was written by him and Billy Kirsch.
All of the information from the questions were from interviews on his C.D.s.
