Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where did Simple Plan originate?

Answer: Quebec, Canada

The band started in 1993 as Reset with four high school band members, including Pierre Bouvier and Chuck Comeau. During college, they eventually reconnected with high school friends Jeff Stinco and Sébastien Lefebvre, and re-made the band, adding in David Desrosiers.
2. In what movie did the band appear with Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen?

Answer: New York Minute

"New York Minute" was released in 2004, Mary-Kate and Ashley's second theatrical vehicle. It involved Jane (Ashley) and Roxy (Mary-Kate) in a wild day in New York. The sisters chose Simple Plan to appear in their movie simply because "we love their music".

Answer: My Alien

"I'm Just a Kid" was the first US single released, on February 19th, 2002. "I'd Do Anything", "Perfect", and "Addicted" soon followed. Although "My Alien" was on the "No Pads, No Helmets... Just Balls" album, it was not released as a US single.
4. Which singer did Simple Plan open for in 2003?

Answer: Avril Lavigne

In 2003, Avril Lavigne went on her "Try To Shut Me Up" Tour, the lineup being all-Canadian. They went on the tour from January 23rd, 2003 through June 4th, 2003.

2003 was a busy year for Britney Spears, who released her album "In the Zone" that year, and famously locked lips with Madonna at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards. Kelly Clarkson released her album "Thankful" in April of 2003 and it proved to be a very big hit. However, neither of the three singers mentioned in this paragraph went on tour with Simple Plan in 2003.
5. When the television show 'Moonlight' was canceled in 2008, what Simple Plan song did the 'Moonlight' fans, quite popularly, use to protest?

Answer: When I'm Gone

"Moonlight" (2007-2008) was created by Ron Koslow. It followed the private investigator Mick St. John (Alex O'Loughlin), who just so happened to be a vampire. An immortal vampire. The show followed the vampire as he solved cases and dealt with his past - and his future.

The show was canceled in May 2008, thanks to the 2007-2008 Writer's Strike. The fans protested for many months, using "When I'm Gone" as one of their anthems, as a way of telling CBS "you are going to miss us when we stop watching your channel".
6. What non-profit organization did Simple Plan create?

Answer: The Simple Plan Foundation

The band used to donate to various charities, but got annoyed due to not knowing what their donations were really being used for. As a result, they started The Simple Plan Foundation, which focuses on problems that teens have, such as alcoholism, drugs, and poverty.
7. Which episode of "Scooby-Doo" did Simple Plan guest-star in?

Answer: Simple Plan and the Invisible Madman

Simple Plan was very much affiliated with "Scooby-Doo" for several years. Their song "You Don't Mean Anything" and "The Worst Day Ever" was heard in the episode they guest-starred in. They also performed the "Scooby-Doo" theme song.

Their song "Grow Up" was used for the first live-action "Scooby-Doo" movie, and "Don't Wanna Think About You" in the second.
8. In what song did Pierre announce "I'd run a thousand miles to get you"?

Answer: Addicted

"Addicted", which was about unrequited love, about how the singer was addicted to someone who didn't love him back. The song was Simple Plan's first Top 50 hit, reaching number 45 on Billboard Hot 100.

The band's secret goal was to get an offensive word on MTV, without it seeming deliberate. They succeeded by playing with the words "I'm addicted to you" in a way that didn't sound like a cuss or curse word when you immediately heard it.
9. Which band member temporarily left Simple Plan for paternity leave in 2008?

Answer: Jeff Stinco

The half-Italian guitarist had a daughter, Maya, born in January 2007, and another daughter in June of 2008 with longtime girlfriend, France Turgeon. He was the first member of the band to have a child.
10. The acoustic version of "Perfect" was used in which film soundtrack?

Answer: Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen

"Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen" (2004) starred Lindsay Lohan and Allison Pill. The film followed sixteen-year-old Lola (Lohan) and her friend, Ella (Pill), as they went on a wild adventure to New York. The song "Perfect" came in towards the film, when Lola was in a deep pit of depression.
