The band went to a cabin in the woods of Mount Charleston, Nevada in March 2007 to write their next album. After recording and performing some of the new tracks in the summer, they returned to their old rehearsal studio in Vegas but realized they were no longer interested in the songs and threw out the album five months after starting it; it was apparently "three quarters" done.

They then began writing their album "Pretty. Odd."
