Margaret was the second of eight children born to King Henry VII and Elizabeth of York, only four of whom lived to be over the age of eight - Margaret, Mary, Henry and Arthur.

Margaret was betrothed to King James IV and set out with her large retinue to marry him at age 13. She fell passionately in love with him, but she did not know at first what disappointments lay ahead.
