Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who were the two wingers who became an almost unstoppable force, and were virtually always present in the first-team due to their astonishing strength and power?

Answer: Seru Rabeni and Alesana Tuilagi

These powerhouses were the ideal finishers needed by the Tigers in their great pick and drive style. Oppositions couldn't stop them gaining valuable yards.
2. Who scored the vital try in the dying minutes of the victory against Stade Francais in the Heineken Cup, to put Tigers through to the semi-final?

Answer: Tom Varndell

A great run and offload by Dan Hipkiss, gave Tom the room he needed to motor under the posts for a 1 point victory.
3. Who did the Tigers beat narrowly in a hard fought EDF Energy Cup Final at Twickenham?

Answer: Ospreys

A brilliant first half gave a massive lead for the Tigers, but was very nearly thrown away in an abysmal second half finishing 41-35.
4. What was the capacity of Welford Road in 2006-07?

Answer: 16,815

A tiny ground for such a well supported club. A future ground share with Leicester City FC means that they are having to extend some of the ground to allow bigger crowds.
5. Who won the Members 2006-07 Player of the Year Award?

Answer: Alesana Tuilagi

Martin Corry won the Outstanding Contribution award. Martin Castrogiavanni won the Newcomer of the Year award. Seru Rabeni won the Tackle of the Year award, and was also the partner on the opposite wing of Tuilagi.
6. Who made their first team debut as the youngest player ever to play in a Guiness Premiership Final at the age of just 17?

Answer: Ben Youngs

He came on as a substitute late in the second half due to Leicesters severe lack of scrum-halfs. Harry Ellis was injured with a knee injury, and Scott Bemand was also out. This meant he was automatically second choice putting him on the bench.
7. Who was the top try scorer of the 2006-07 season?

Answer: Tom Varndell

The season before, Varndell was the Guiness Premiership top try scorer. This season he got less games because of his loaned spell and the good partnership formed between Rabeni and Tuilagi.
8. Who was the captain, despite losing the England captaincy in the Autumn Internationals?

Answer: Martin Corry

A run of very bad results led to the firing of England manager Andy Robinson. Brian Ashton replaced him and one of his first moves was to remove Martin Corry as captain.
9. One player played a match when he was officially still on loan. This meant Liecester were docked a point costing them the League top spot. Who was this player?

Answer: Ian Humphreys

Humphreys had a small spell at Division One side Leeds Tykes. However he returned to Tigers and played a vital match while still being officially a Leeds player. Tom Varndell also had a short spell at Bedford but his went without a hitch.
10. Which family had 5 brothers all play for the Tigers at some point in their career?

Answer: Tuilagi

There are really 7 Tuilagi brothers, 6 of which play rugby. Freddie, Henry, Alesana, and Anitelea have all played in the first team. Vavae was in the academy.
