Answer: Middlesex and Surrey

Lord's is located in St John's Wood near Regents Park, north of the Thames. As well as being the home of the MCC (Marylebone Cricket Club), it is home to Middlesex County Cricket Club. The Oval is located in Kennington, south of the Thames, and is home to Surrey County Cricket Club.

There is no London county team, Essex and Kent are based in Chelmsford and Canterbury respectively, whilst Hertfordshire is a minor counties team who play at various small venues.
2. What is the name of London's rugby league team, which has participated in the Super League competition?

Answer: London Broncos

The London Broncos were founded as Fulham RLFC in 1980. In 1994, the Australian NRL club Brisbane Broncos bought them and rebranded them under the club's name. They have had numerous home grounds since then, with their 2009 games being played at the Trailfinders Sports Ground in Ealing.

The team's greatest achievement came in 1999 when they reached the Challenge Cup final at Wembley, eventually losing to Leeds Rhinos.

Previous champions there include John McEnroe, Jimmy Connors and Boris Becker. Beckenham hosted a men's tournament up until the late 1990s and a women's event until the early 1980s. Roehampton is the venue for the qualifying tournament for Wimbledon. Lee Valley has never hosted any pro events.

London used to have numerous greyhound racing venues, at places such as Wimbledon (closed 2017), Catford (closed 2003) and Walthamstow (closed 2005), with even Wembley hosting the sport until 1998. Upon the closure of Wimbledon Greyhound Stadium in 2017, the city had only two tracks remaining - Romford Greyhound Stadium in the Brough of Havering, near the Essex border, and Crayford Stadium in Bexley, near the border with Kent.

White City Stadium, in Shepherd's Bush, was opened in time for the 1908 games with a seating capacity at the time of 68,000. It hosted a number of sports, not just athletics. After the games, the stadium became primarily a greyhound racing venue, although football and rugby league also took place there at various times until its closure in 1984.

The BBC now occupies the site, but the name still lives on courtesy of the nearby White City underground station.

Crystal Palace National Sports Centre opened in 1964 within Crystal Palace Park. The original Victorian Crystal Palace moved there from Hyde Park after the 1851 Great Exhibition, and was the site of a number of early F.A. Cup finals. The venue eventually became obsolete but was replaced by a new sports centre in 1964, with athletics being the main sport held there.
