The Kansas City Athletics existed from 1955-1967. Their best season was a 6th place finish under the management of Lou Boudreau in 1955. They finished 8th or lower, 7 times in Kansas City. Their attendance had dropped from almost 1.4 million per season, to just over 528,000. It was time to move.
2. When did the Oakland A's win their first World Series?

Answer: 1972

By beating the Detroit Tigers for the American League Championship, they earned the right to do battle with the National League champion Cincinnati Reds. They beat the Reds 4 games to 3, in a close World Series battle all the way. Catfish Hunter won the 7th game, and Gene Tenace was named World Series MVP.
3. Who was the first Oakland pitcher to win 25 games in a season?

Answer: Jim Hunter

Jim 'Catfish' Hunter won 25 games in 1974. Combined with the leagues lowest ERA, he won the Cy Young Award that season.
4. Reggie Jackson's highest season home run total in an A's uniform was how many?

Answer: 47

Jackson hit 47 big ones in 1969. This was his highest season total in his career. He hit 269 of his career total 563 four-baggers in an A's uniform.

Tejada had 204 hits in the 2002 season. Although Campaneris set the team record for career hits in an A's uniform with 1882, his highest season total was 177 hits in 1968.

Answer: Vida Blue

Blue struck out 301 in 1971. He went 24-8 to help the A's to a 101-60 record, and the American League Western Division championship. His efforts earned him the 1971 American League MVP, and the Cy Young Award.
