In Manhattan, New York City, on October 27, 1858, Roosevelt was born at 28 East 20th Street. His mother was Martha Stewart Bulloch and his father was Theodore Roosevelt Sr. Theodore had two sisters Anna, Corinne and a brother Elliott.

Roosevelt was assisted by the intense firepower of the Gatling guns and the Rough Riders and other battalions, which triumphantly drove the Spaniards off the hill.

At forty-three, John F. Kennedy was the second-youngest president.

It has been said that in the eight years while living at the White House, Roosevelt had kept over 40 animals. These included horses, dogs, lizards, a pig, a pony, a zebra and even a lion among other animals. His children had a lizard called Bill and a tiny bear they called Jonathan Edwards.

One of the dogs was called Pete, a bull terrier. Pete had to be banished to the Roosevelt house on Long Island (Sagamore Hill) because he bit so many people on their legs. Theodore Roosevelt lived on Sagamore Hill from 1885 until his death in 1919.

Roosevelt's family home was called Sagamore Hill. It became the home of the family from 1885 until his death in 1919. The location of the house was Cove Neck, New York, near Oyster Bay on the North Shore of Long Island. Lamb & Rich were the Architects and the builders were John A. Wood and Son. The architecture was in the Queen Anne style and had grounds of 83 acres.

Theodore Roosevelt is buried in Young's Memorial Cemetery in Oyster Bay Cove, not far from the family home. October 15, 1966 saw the addition of Sagamore Hill to the National Register of Historic Places.
