1. "Gospel Train" - Rosetta Tharpe

"Sister" Rosetta Tharpe was born in 1915 and was one of the earliest female performers of rock music, and is known as the "Godmother of Rock and Roll." Tharpe was perhaps the first prominent female electric guitarist in rock music. Her album "Gospel Train" was released in 1956 and features her soulful gospel voice along with her fiery electric guitar playing.
2. "Surrealistic Pillow" - Grace Slick

Grace Slick was the lead singer of the 1960s group Jefferson Starship. "Surrealistic Pillow" was Jefferson Starship's second album and it was released in 1967. The album includes their hits "Somebody to Love" and "White Rabbit." The album reached number three on the Billboard 200, and has been recognized as a Platinum album (one million units sold).
3. "Pearl" - Janis Joplin

Janis Joplin was born in 1943 and had a short-lived career, as she was a victim of the 27-club in rock music - meaning she died at 27 years old, like many other rock musicians before and since. She made her break with Big Brother and the Holding Company as their lead singer, and released two albums with them.

She then made two albums after as a solo artist, the last of the two being "Pearl" before her death of a heroin overdose in 1970; the album was actually released posthumously in 1971. The album features "Me And Bobby McGee", "Mercedes Benz", and "Cry Baby".

It reached number one on the Billboard 200.
4. "Dreamboat Annie" - Ann and Nancy Wilson

Ann and Nancy Wilson are sisters who were original members of the band Heart. "Dreamboat Annie" was the band's debut album released in 1976, and included the hit songs "Magic Man" and "Crazy On You." The album has been certified Platinum.
5. "Rumours" - Stevie Nicks/Christine McVie

Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie were the two female singers in Fleetwood Mac. Fleetwood Mac was a blues band fronted by blues guitarist Peter Green until he left the group in 1970 and the band went from a blues-based band into the rock format that showcased Nicks and McVie on vocals. "Rumours" was released in 1977 and was massively successful; It reached the top spot on the Billboard 200, and included the songs, "Dreams", "Go Your Own Way", "Don't Stop", and "The Chain."
6. "Parallel Lines" - Debbie Harry

Harry was the lead singer of Blondie, which was formed in 1974. "Parallel Lines" is the third album from the band, released in 1978, and includes the songs "One Way Or Another", and "Heart of Glass."
7. "Live from Earth" - Pat Benatar

"Live From Earth" was a live album from Benatar released in 1983, her first live album. The album contained notable songs "Hit Me With Your Best Shot", "Heartbreaker", and "Love is a Battlefield," which was a studio recording. The song was also released as a single, and sold over a million copies.
8. "Private Dancer" - Tina Turner

Tina Turner, the "Queen of Rock and Roll," made a name with herself with her husband Ike Turner in the 1960s with songs including "River Deep - Mountain High" and "Proud Mary." She divorced Ike in 1978 and had a resurgence as a solo act with hits like "What's Love Got To Do With It", and "We Don't Need Another Hero." She released "Private Dancer" in 1984; it was actually written by Mark Knopfler of the Dire Straits.
9. "Nick of Time" Bonnie Raitt

Bonnie Raitt, who has her roots in blues, blazed her way with her vocals along with her electric guitar playing, playing with many legendary blues guitarists like Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, B.B. King, and Stevie Ray Vaughan. "Nick of Time" features the song of the same name, as well as other songs such as "Thing Called Love." The album topped the Billboard 200 in 1989, the year it was released.
10. "No Need to Argue" - Dolores O'Riordan

Dolores O'Riordan was born in Ireland in 1971. She fronted the band The Cranberries, and came to fame with their 1993 album "Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?" The band's second album "No Need to Argue" was released in 1994, and included the hit song "Zombie," which was one of their most popular songs. The album peaked at number six on the Billboard 200.
