Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:

Slade are an English band that was formed in Wolverhampton in 1964. The most successful Slade line-up was Noddy Holder - lead vocals, rhythm guitar; Dave Hill - lead guitar, backing vocals; Jim Lea - bass, backing vocals; and Don Powell - drums.

The band's turning point was in 1971 with the single "Get Down and Get with It". This was followed by their next 1971 number one hit on the UK Singles Chart, "Coz I Luv You". Five more number one hits on the UK Chart took place between 1971 and 1973. In a short space of time, Slade achieved 17 consecutive top 20 hits.

It could be said Slade arrived at the right time and right place. Between 1971 and 1975, glam rock was the movement to be in, and it was during this period that Slade were at their best. The decline in glam rock also saw the decline of the band. Punk rock was now the genre. Other bands from the glam rock era were also in decline, including Mud, Roxy Music and Gary Glitter. Some of the bands moved on and sought other genres, but I think it's safe to say Slade found it hard going.

Between 1975 and 1977 the band toured America, hoping it would lead to a recovery. The band even supported Aerosmith, ZZ Top and Black Sabbath. In March 1976 the band recorded their sixth album.

"Nobody's Fools", the album, was recorded at The Record Plant, New York, but the album failed to have any impact in the U.S., although it did reach number 14 on the UK Albums Chart.

Although Slade continued to perform live gigs and release new albums, the band had little success, with the odd single making the charts, with "We'll Bring the House Down" reaching number ten in 1979 and "My Oh My" in 1983 reaching number two, which was the band's highest position since 1975. In 1992 Holder and Lea had left the band. Slade II was formed in 1992 with Hill and Powell, but the band never had the impact of the original line-up.

As for the incorrect options, in 1981, Welsh singer Shakin' Stevens recorded a version of "This Ole House." "Gimme Some Lovin'" was a 1967 hit for The Spencer Davis Group. In 1976 Joe Tex and Buddy Killen released the song "Ain't Gonna Bump No More (With No Big Fat Woman)". The Nolans released the song "Gotta Pull Myself Together" in 1980. Blanco Brown sang the song "The Git Up" in 2019. My Chemical Romance was the band that recorded the song "Goodnite, Dr. Death" in 2010.
