Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Chapter Eleven: 'The Great Divide' What, exactly, is the Great Divide?

Answer: A canyon

'Team Avatar' reaches the Great Divide, the largest canyon in the world, as a refugee arrives to explain his story. Upon their arrival, two rival tribes are passing through, using the canyon guide to get across to the Earth Kingdom capital, Ba Sing Se.

Although Katara and Sokka are fighting, Aang is able to defuse the situation with the advice of the canyon guide, help the tribes find peace and end their hundred-year feud over a regional artifact (by lying to them about the reality of their situations), and get everyone across the Great Divide despite the presence of monstrous beasts.
2. Chapter Twelve: 'The Storm' Aang has to save Sokka when he takes up a job as which of these?

Answer: Fisherman

Aang has horrible dreams as the team reaches the coast. In a fishing village, there are fears of a horrible storm, but Sokka decides to head out to sea to drum up some money (and fish). They do end up in a storm, and Aang and Katara have to head into it to save Sokka, but this forces Aang to have to come to terms with the nightmares he had about his being forced out of the Southern Air Temple.

This originally led to his being trapped in an iceberg, and he stops himself this second time, even if it means entering the Avatar State to do so. At the same time, nearby, Prince Zuko hits the same storm and it puts his ship's crew at risk. Iroh manages to save the crew and, fearing risk, he puts off hunting Aang, at least for the day, to help his men.
3. Chapter Thirteen: 'The Blue Spirit' Who is revealed to be the Blue Spirit?

Answer: Zuko

As Sokka and Katara fall ill in their travels, Aang visits an herbalist institute looking for medicine. It leads Aang to be captured. Now an Admiral, Zhao of the Fire Nation decides to make use of the skilled Yuu Yan Archers, putting them to use and succeeding in tracking down the Avatar. Aang is only able to be freed when a blue spirit wearing a mask rescues him from his captors, but in the escape, the rescuer is revealed to be none other than Prince Zuko, acting on his own. Aang tries to extend his friendship before going back to heal his friends, but Zuko returns to his ship.
4. Chapter Fourteen: 'The Fortuneteller' Aang, Katara, and Sokka come across a fortuneteller, but which one of them doesn't believe her predictions from the beginning?

Answer: Sokka

The group comes across a village near the woods that operates with the powers of a fortuneteller deciding their moves. They visit her, and while Katara leans into the predictions with an open mind, Sokka remains skeptical. Aang, trying to catch Katara's eye during these discussions, discovers that Katara is predicted to marry a powerful bender.

His own prediction is a bit more dire, indicating a battle deciding the fate of the world. When Aunt Wu predicts the village's safety, Aang finds out the nearby volcano actually on the verge of erupting.

It takes his and Katara's actions as 'powerful benders' and Sokka's planning to save the people living nearby, in turn proving the prediction.
5. Chapter Fifteen: 'Bato of the Water Tribe' Katara and Sokka distrust Aang when he withholds which of these from them?

Answer: A map

Aang, Katara, and Sokka come across a seemingly-abandoned Water Tribe ship only to find it's actually the boat of a man named Bato, who shares a tribal connection to the two siblings. The ship's existence leads the two to believe that their father, a warrior, may be nearby, but he seems to have proceeded onwards. Aang, jealous of the others, withholds information about the whereabouts of Sokka and Katara's father. Zuko, meanwhile, hires a bounty hunter by the name of June to help hunt Aang down using a large creature with the power of super scent.

Despite their frustration with Aang's actions, Katara and Sokka help him out of the bind, knowing that his success is most important, and continue on towards the North Pole with him, as they planned.
6. Chapter Sixteen: 'The Deserter' Fire Nation deserter Jeong Jeong once taught firebending to which of these?

Answer: Admiral Zhao

Visiting a Fire Nation village, Aang and the others are forced to flee and it leads to an escape that brings them to the attention of a local Fire Nation deserter, Jeong Jeong, who once taught his firebending skills to Admiral Zhao. This serves as the perfect opportunity to learn, but Aang quickly sees how dangerous firebending really is when he accidentally hurts Katara. Coincidentally, Admiral Zhao tracks Aang down and it leads to a fight that Aang ultimately wins (using Zhao's temper). Though Aang is hurt, Katara's newfound skills in waterbending allow her to heal the both of them.
7. Chapter Seventeen: 'The Northern Air Temple' This location is situated atop caves containing which of these?

Answer: Natural gas

Word leads Aang and the others to the Northern Air Temple where they believe there may be airbenders still alive. What they find there are normal citizens using gliders, much like Aang's, to live their lives in the clouds. During their visit, Aang locates a hidden room filled to the brim with unique Fire Nation artifacts and, no sooner does the Fire Nation arrive to reclaim their items, built by a local inventor to secure his people's safety. Aang and the gliders manage to fight off the soldiers (Sokka in particular is of help, using a war balloon to ignite a fault of natural gas).

The Air Temple succeeds in protecting themselves, but the Fire Nation claims the wreckage of the war balloon.
8. Chapter Eighteen: 'The Waterbending Master' Katara isn't allowed to learn to fight with waterbending. Instead, she's told to learn which of these?

Answer: Healing

Aang and the group finally make it to the Northern Water Tribe and, after a welcome, Aang is brought to Master Pakku to learn waterbending. Unfortunately, he refuses to train Katara as well, insisting that she learn to heal instead of learn to fight. It leads to a battle, against custom, in which she can prove her mettle. It's soon uncovered that Katara bears a distant relation to Pakku and the rules are loosened.
Elsewhere, Admiral Zhao deduces that Zuko was the one who rescued Aang from his clutches. Zuko escapes Zhao's men...by sneaking onto the enemy ship.
9. Chapter Nineteen: 'The Siege of the North Part 1' Waterbenders are stronger at what time?

Answer: In the moonlight

As Katara masters waterbending faster than most, Admiral Zhao's forces close in on the North Pole. The fleet arrives at night, but they wait for morning to mount a stronger assault. In the meantime, Sokka assists the Water Tribe forces in knowing their enemy and Katara joins the warriors in protecting the city. Aang dives into fighting the ships closely but takes the opportunity to enter the spirit world to learn more.

It's the perfect time for Zuko to swoop in and take Aang's body hostage, something he's only able to do when the Fire Nation breaks through the Ice Tribe's barricades.
10. Chapter Twenty: 'The Siege of the North Part 2' The Moon Spirit's mortal form is which of these?

Answer: Fish

While the battle rages on, Katara and Sokka head out in pursuit of Aang and Zuko. Admiral Zhao, however, infiltrates the city and makes his way through to find the mortal form of the Moon Spirit-- a fish-- and he kills it. It has horrible effects, removing the ability for anyone to waterbend and harming the world. The Moon Spirit is only revived when the Northern Water Tribe princess, Yue, sacrifices herself to save it. While Aang enters the Avatar State and wipes out the Fire Nation army, Zhao is drowned by the Ocean Spirit for his actions, but not before fighting Zuko. The Northern Water Tribe is saved.

In the Fire Nation, Firelord Ozai receives word from his men that Zuko and Iroh have acted against the will of their people and he sends his daughter, Azula, to hunt them down.
