Answer: Maggie May

This song was co-written by Rod Stewart and Martin Quittendon in 1971, for the "Every Picture Tells a Story" album and released as the "B" side song for "Reason To Believe". It was played by chance, by a DJ over the air and soon became the more popular of the two songs, quickly taking Rod Stewart to stardom.

Answer: Reason To Believe

This song was written and originally recorded by Tim Hardin in 1965. Bobby Darin also recorded it in 1967. Rod Stewart recorded and released it in 1971 as the "A" side to "Maggie May". He re-released it in 1993, live on his album "Unplugged and Seated", with Ron Wood of the Rolling Stones. Ron Wood and Rod Stewart were both members of Small Faces in 1975.

The album reunited the two musicians after almost 20 years.

Rod was standing outside the Hyatt Regency Hotel, in Toronto, Canada at 10:00 a.m., when the lyrics for this song popped into his head. There was no tape recorder available, so Rod sang while his producer wrote the lyrics on a cigarette package! He attracted quite a crowd!

"Forever Young" was written by Rod Stewart, Jim Cregan and Kevin Savigan for the "Out of Order" album, which was released in 1988.
It's one of my favorites by Rod Stewart. I wrote the words in my son's "baby book" to be given to him when he's eighteen years old.

"Downtown Train" hit number two on the US single charts in 1990. It's a beautiful song, written by Tom Waites and taken from Rod Stewart's four CD set, "Storyteller".

Originally recorded by the Isley Brothers in 1966, "This Old Heart of Mine" was re-recorded and released by Rod Stewart and Ronald Isley in 1989/1990. It is also taken from the "Storyteller" set.

Rod Stewart recorded and released this song in 1993, as a single off of his "Unplugged and Seated" album. Rod dedicated the song to his wife Rachel Hunter, whom he is now divorced from. It's still a beautiful song, anyway!

If you listen carefully, you can hear the bagpipes in this song, which is a tribute to Rod's father and his Scottish heritage.

Answer: Windy Town

The release of "A Spanner in the Works", marked the end of a four year gap between this and Rod's last studio album, "Vagabond Heart". The album also features such songs as "Leave Virginia Alone", "This" and "You're the Star". I have to say that this album is probably my favorite collection of Rod's on one album.
