1. 1976 EuroHockey Club Champions Cup Final - Uccle

Answer: Southgate

Southgate's first appearance in the Champions Cup had come in 1975, in which they won the bronze medal. They achieved qualification for the 1976 tournament through their victory in the 1975 HA Cup over Nottingham. Reaching the final, they played Belgian champions Uccle Sport, winning the game 3-2.

This was the first of three successive victories in the competition for Southgate, who were victorious against Uccle again the following year, and against West German side Rüsselsheimer in 1978. Southgate won a further bronze medal five years later in 1983.
2. 1980 EuroHockey Champions Cup Final - Klein Zwitserland

Answer: Slough

Slough's qualification for the 1980 Champions Cup, held that year in Barcelona, came through their victory in the previous season's HA Cup over Neston. In the final, they faced the reigning Dutch and European champions Klein Zwitserland, winning the game 1-0. Slough reached the finals tournament in the two following seasons, finishing fourth on both occasions having lost in each game to the Spanish side Real Club de Polo. Klein Zwitserland regained their title in 1981 in what proved to be the third of five successive appearances in the final.
3. 1986 EuroHockey Club Trophy Final - Grammarians

Answer: Edinburgh Civil Service

Edinburgh Civil Service's first appearance in the finals of the Club Trophy had come in the tournament's second edition in 1982, when they finished fourth. They reached the finals tournament of the Club Trophy in 1986 as both Scottish league champions and winners of the Scottish Hockey Cup the previous season.

In the eight team Club Trophy tournament, held that year in Gothenburg, they faced Gibraltarian side Grammarians in the final, winning 3-1 to become the first Scottish side to win a European trophy.
4. 1990 Eurobowl IV - Legnano Frogs

Answer: Manchester Spartans

The Manchester Spartans gained entry into the 1990 European Football League (EFL) tournament through their victory in the 1989 BritBowl over the Birmingham Bulls. In the EFL competition, the Spartans were drawn into Group A in the first round, gaining victories over the Dublin Celts and Amsterdam Crusaders to reach the play-offs, which were held in Rimini. Having defeated the Berlin Adler in the semi-final, they went on to become European champions with victory over the Italian side Legnano Frogs 34-22.

The same year, the Spartans won a second successive national championship. In 1994, the Spartans left Manchester to move to Sheffield, being renamed as the Great Britain Spartans and joining the Football League of Europe. The team folded following the closure of the league in 1995.
5. 1991 EuroHockey Club Trophy - Lisnagarvey

Answer: Kelburne

Kelburne qualified for the Club Trophy tournament as the champions of Scotland's National Division 1. Between 1990 and 1993, the Club Trophy was played twice a year, with the second finals tournament of 1991, for which Kelburne qualified, played in Glasgow.

This featured a total of six teams, with the line-up completed by teams from Ireland, Yugoslavia, Austria, Sweden and Portugal. Kelburne reached the final, where they lost to reigning Irish Cup holders Lisnagarvey. However, Kelburne reached the first tournament of the following year when they beat Gibraltarian side Grammarians to win their first European trophy.
6. 1993 EuroHockey Club Trophy Final - Grunwald Poznań

Answer: Havant

Havant gained entry to the first of the two finals tournaments of the Club Trophy held in 1993 as champions of the National League First Division. The tournament, for which Havant were the hosts, was their third successive foray into European competition, having been runners-up in the 1991 Cup Winners Cup, before reaching the finals tournament of the previous season's Club Champions Cup, where they finished eighth. Havant eventually reached the final, where they defeated Polish side Grunwald Poznań.
7. 1993 Eurobowl VII - Amsterdam Crusaders

Answer: London Olympians

The London Olympians gained entry to the 1993 European Football League tournament thanks to their victory in the 1992 Britbowl over the Leicester Panthers. The EFL tournament that year was a straight knock-out, with the Olympians entering at the quarter-final stage, beating the Dusseldorf Panther 32-29, before seeing off Finnish side East City Giants in the semi-final to reach their first Eurobowl.

Held at the Heysel Stadium in Brussels, the Olympians faced the Amsterdam Crusaders, who were two time reigning champions, and appearing in their fifth Eurobowl.

The Olympians eventually ran out 42-21 winners to become the second British team to win the EFL championship. They successfully defended their title the following year against the Bergamo Lions, before losing in Eurobowl IX against the Dusseldorf Panther.
8. 1998 EuroHockey Club Trophy Final - KHC Dragons

Answer: Reading

Reading reached the finals tournament of the Club Trophy as a result of their winning the National League Premier Division the previous season. The tournament, which was held in Brasschaat in Belgium, saw Reading eventually reach the final to play the hosts, KHC Dragons. Reading won the final 5-2 to win their first European trophy. Five years later, the club reached the pinnacle of European field hockey by winning the Club Champions Cup, the first English club to do so since 1980.
9. 2000 EuroHockey Club Trophy Final - Instonians

Answer: Western Wildcats

Western Wildcats' entry into the finals tournament of the Club Trophy came through their victory in the previous season's National League 1. In the tournament, which was held in Belfast, Westerns found their way to the final against the hosts, Irish side Instonians, who the Scottish team had beaten to the bronze medal in the previous year's competition.

In the final, Westerns were able to gain a 5-3 victory, becoming the third Scottish side to achieve victory in the Club Trophy.
10. 2001 IIHF Continental Cup Final Stage

Answer: London Knights

The London Knights gained entry into the Continental Cup via their victory in the previous season's Ice Hockey Superleague play-off tournament/ Entering the Continental Cup at the Second Group Stage, the Knights topped Group O with a record of two wins and a tie, qualifying them for the final group stage.

This was played in Zurich, and saw them face hosts ZSC Lions, Slovan Bratislava of Slovakia, and the Munich Barons from Germany. With a record of two wins and a defeat, the Knights eventually finished second in the final group.

Despite the team's success on the ice, reach two further domestic play-off finals and the final of the national cup competition, the Knights struggled with attendances, and were eventually forced to fold in 2003 after their home arena was sold.
11. 2010 EuroHockey Club Trophy Final - Dinamo Elektrostal

Answer: Grange

Grange qualified for the Club Trophy by virtue of their victory in the Scottish Cup the previous season. Reaching the finals tournament, which was held in Cardiff, they became the fourth Scottish club to reach the final, going one better than the bronze medal they achieved in 1984.

In the final, they played against Russian side Dinamo Elektrostal, losing the match 6-3. Eight years after this, Grange would go on to win the competition in 2018.
12. 2010 IIHF Continental Cup Final Stage

Answer: Sheffield Steelers

Sheffield Steelers entered the Continental Cup having finished top of the Elite Ice Hockey League table and won the play-off tournament the previous season. Entering the competition at the Third Group Stage, the Steelers topped Group D with a total of 8 points, having won two games in regulation time, and one in a shoot-out.

This got the side to the Final Group, which was held in Grenoble in France. The Steelers finally finished third in the group, with a record of one win and two defeats. The Steelers returned to the Final Stage in the 2018 competition, again finishing third.
13. 2013 EuroHockey Club Trophy Final - Politechnika Poznanska

Answer: Cardiff & UWIC

Cardiff & UWIC gained entry to the Club Trophy through their victory in the Championship level of the Welsh Cup the previous season. In previous appearances in the Club Trophy, the side, in their previous incarnation as Cardiff HC, had won two bronze medals and a fourth place finish.

The 2013 finals tournament, held in Vienna, saw them reach their first final, where they faced Polish side Politechnika Poznanska, who won the match 4-2 to lift the trophy. Three years later, the renamed Cardiff & Met went one better and won the tournament, going on to win a second Club Trophy in 2019.
14. 2017 IIHF Continental Cup Final Stage

Answer: Nottingham Panthers

The Nottingham Panthers gained their entry into the Continental Cup through their victory in the previous season's Challenge Cup. Entering the competition in the Second Group Stage, the Panthers finished top of their group with three wins out of three and a maximum of 9 points to advance into the Third Group Stage. Again, the Panthers came top of the group, on a record of two wins and a defeat, to make it to the Final Group stage for the first time.

Held in Ritten, in Italy, the Panthers faced the hosts, Ritten Sport, Beibarys Atyrau of Kazakhstan, and Odense Bulldogs of Denmark.

The Panthers won two of their games in regulation time, and one in a shoot-out, to become the first British side to win the Continental Cup, which also gave them a place in the following season's Champions Hockey League.
15. 2019 IIHF Continental Cup Final Stage

Answer: Belfast Giants

The Belfast Giants qualified for the Continental Cup thanks to their victory in the previous season's Challenge Cup. Entering the competition at the Third Group Stage, the Giants finished top of Group E with a record of two wins and one defeat, qualifying for the Final Group Stage.

In the final group, held in the Giants' home arena in Belfast, they faced Arlan Kokshetau of Kazakhstan, GKS Katowice of Poland, and HK Gomel from Belarus. Winning their first two games, their final one against the Kazakh side, to determine the top two positions, ended with the Giants losing in a shoot-out to finish second in the group.
