Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. These are lines from a song: "Insanity laughs under pressure we're breaking/Can't we give ourselves one more chance/Why can't we give love that one more chance?" Who, with Queen, was the co-author of this song?

Answer: David Bowie

The lines are from the well-known song "Under Pressure", which is written by Queen and David Bowie. The song is included in Queen album "Hot Space" (1982).
2. In 1992 a Freddie Mercury tribute concert took place in Wembley Stadium. Queen performed together with many singers. Who were the two very different performers who sang "Bohemian Rhapsody"?

Answer: Elton John and Axl Rose

The only duet which I find even stranger was Elton John and Eminem (not in this concert). "Bohemian Rhapsody" is the most popular Queen song. It is from their album "A Night at the Opera" (1975).
3. Most of you will know the Michael Jackson song "State of Shock" which he sings together with Mick Jagger. Originally this song was recorded by Michael Jackson in collaboration with one of Queen members. Which?

Answer: Freddie Mercury

This version of the song was never officially released, and this is not the only unreleased collaboration of Mercury and Jackson. They recorded also "There Must Be More To Life Than This" which is a Freddie Mercury solo song from his album "Mr. Bad Guy".
4. Freddie produced and sang backing vocals on the album "This One's On Me" (1977) by his friend Peter Straker. Where can we see Peter Straker?

Answer: In the video of "The Great Pretender" - he is the lady with dark hair

The other ladies in this video are Freddie Mercury and Roger Taylor. Peter Straker also sang backing vocals in songs performed by Freddie Mercury - "Time" and "The Golden Boy".
5. In which of his albums George Michael can be heard performing with Queen?

Answer: "Five Live" (1993)

Songs "Somebody to Love" and "These Are the Days of Our Lives" are taken from the 1992 Freddie Mercury tribute concert.
6. One of the greatest collaborations in the history of music was the one of Freddie Mercury and Monserrat Caballe. All of you will know the song "Barcelona" they sang together. Why Barcelona?

Answer: Monserrat wanted Freddie to write a song about her home town

It was only later that the song was made the anthem of the Olympic games in Barcelona in 1992. The collaboration with Monserrat was Freddie's dream. About her Freddie has said: "I love music and she is music."
7. Who plays drums in most of songs from the album "Back to the Light" (1992) by Brian May?

Answer: Cozy Powell

Cozy Powell, who is considered to be one of England's best drummers, died in a car crash in 1998.
8. One of the collaborations I find very interesting - Brian May played guitar in the Foo Fighters recording of the song "Have a Cigar", which is a cover version of a song by which band?

Answer: Pink Floyd

The original version of the song is from the Pink Floyd album "Wish You Were Here" (1975). It is not hard to guess the original artist, if you know the lyrics of the song. One line goes: "Oh by the way, which one's Pink?"
9. Brian May helped his wife to record several songs. What is her name?

Answer: Anita Dobson

Anita Dobson is actually an actress. She married Brian May in 2000. Brian May did a lot of work on her album "Talking Of Love".
10. Freddie Mercury and Roger Taylor did backing vocals on one song by Billy Squier. Which song?

Answer: Emotions in Motion

In "Love is the Hero" only Freddie did the backing vocals. After Freddie's death Squier wrote a song dedicated to him - "I Have Watched You Fly".
