Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Here is a lyric, from which song? "You will remember when this is blown over, and everything's all by the way; When I get older, I will be there at your side to remind you how I still love you, I still love you..."

Answer: Love of my Life

The lyric quoted in the question occurs in the place in the song where the music changes from that of the other verses; musicians call this the "bridge" of a song. This song is taken from the album "A Night At The Opera", released in 1975.
2. Here's a lyric that the majority of Queen fans will quickly recognize: "Buddy you're a boy, make a big noise playing in the street, gonna be a big man some day, you got mud on your face, you big disgrace, kickin' your can all over the place."

Answer: We Will Rock You

"We Will Rock You" is taken from the 1977 album, "News Of The World." In the video of the song, the boys in the band seem to roar out the lyrics, and this is the way the song has traditionally been sung by fans. "We Will Rock You" has become a very popular song to be sung at sporting events, to the players and fans of the opposing team. It seems to be either a threat or a promise!
3. How about this lyric? It's taken from the two opening lines of which song? "She keeps her Moet et Chandon in a pretty cabinet, 'let them eat cake', she says, just like Marie Antoinette,"

Answer: Killer Queen

This song comes from the Queen album "Sheer Heart Attack," released in the UK and worldwide in 1974. It has proved to be of enduring popularity, and still causes fans to wonder as to the meaning of the song's lyrics. References to "Khrushchev and Kennedy" seem to place it as having something to do with the Cold War, but the Killer Queen herself has been cast as everyone from a call girl to a regular girlfriend.
4. Who is Queen's quiet bass player?

Answer: John Deacon

John Deacon is, of course, the bass player for Queen. He is noted for his quiet demeanour on and offstage, as well as for his devotion to longtime wife Veronica Tetzlaff. His writing skills contributed many songs in the Queen oeuvre. John Deacon stopped performing in the band in 1997, but it has been reported he went back in the studio in 2015, with bandmates Brian May and Roger Taylor, to work on remastering some of Queen's songs.
5. From which song is this lyric taken? "But it's been no bed of roses, no pleasure cruise, I consider it a challenge before the whole human race, and I ain't gonna lose..."

Answer: We Are the Champions

"We Are the Champions", also taken from 1977's "News of the World" is a famous song which provides a vehicle for Freddie Mercury's beautiful soaring voice, with its famous four-octave range. Freddie's birth name was Farouk Bulsara, and he was born in the country of Zanzibar, now part of Tanzania.
6. Here is a very famous Queen lyric. From which song is this taken? "So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye, so you think you can love me and leave me to die, oh, baby, can't do this to me, baby, Just gotta get out, just gotta get right out of here."

Answer: Bohemian Rhapsody

From "A Night at the Opera" (1975), "Bohemian Rhapsody" may be the most beloved song in the Queen catalogue. This short excerpt is taken from the song's third and final section.
7. One of the members of Queen qualified for a second career, outside of music, as an astrophysicist. Which band member was this?

Answer: Brian May

Brian May is entitled to call himself Dr. Brian May, as he was awarded his doctorate (Ph.D.) from UK Imperial College in 2008. He had done most of his formal education in the 1970s, but returned to complete his thesis and other requirements for the doctorate almost 37 years later. Brian May was a celebrity commentator in 2015 as one the scientists consulted about the meaning of the pictures of Pluto sent back by the NASA spacecraft New Horizons.
8. From which Queen song is this lyric taken? "There are plenty of ways that you can hurt a man, and bring him to the ground; you can beat him, you can cheat him, you can treat him bad and leave him when he's down."

Answer: Another One Bites the Dust

"Another One Bites the Dust" comes from the Queen album entitled "The Game" (1980). It is another of those songs that quickly entered the Queen Great Hits pantheon.
9. Here is a very romantic lyric sung by Queen: "Ooh, I've been wandering 'round, but I still come back to you, in rain or shine you've stood by me girl, I'm happy at home..."

Answer: You're My Best Friend

This song was written by John Deacon about his wife, Veronica. It is interesting to reflect upon just how romantic many, if not most, of Queen's songs really are. Quite a few are concerned with the relationship between love and happiness.
10. No Queen quiz would be complete without a question about the late Freddie Mercury, the charismatic lead singer. Which instrument did Freddie play most often, both in the studio and onstage?

Answer: Piano

Freddie Mercury was a brilliant pianist, a vocalist with a four-octave range, and a songwriter. He died too young, by far, of AIDS-related complications, in 1991. As of 2015, he is still mourned by millions and millions of his fans, in virtually every country in the world.
