Jerry Butler was part of the Impressions in the late 1950s and wrote the powerful ballad "For Your Precious Love" on which he sang lead in 1958. He embarked on a solo career and co-wrote "He Will Break Your Heart". The song was a major hit, reaching number seven on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 charts in 1960.

The "Iceman" as Butler is known, has written a number of hit songs for other artists, including Otis Redding's "I've Been Loving You Too Long" as well as having other hits later in the 1960s that he either wrote or co-wrote such as "Only the Strong Survive", and "Let It Be Me", a duet with Betty Everett. "He Will Break Your Heart" was covered by Tony Orlando and Dawn during 1975 under the name "He Don't Love You (Like I Love You).

Gary Lewis, the son of world famous comedian Jerry Lewis, had formed a band in California and wanted to perform, but he wanted to do it on his own merits. They auditioned for a job at Disneyland without telling anyone who Gary's famous father was. They got the job. Later they recorded "This Diamond Ring", appeared on the "Ed Sullivan Show", and became pop sensations.

The song here, "My Heart's Symphony" was a number 13 Billboard Hot 100 hit when it charted during 1966, just before Lewis was inducted into the U.S. Army.

Two out of three ain't bad. The group actually released six singles in the U.S. in 1965 of which "Can't You Hear My Heartbeat" was the first. It scored a number two placing on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 charts. The two that hit the top of the charts were "Mrs. Brown You've Got a Lovely Daughter" and "I'm Henry VIII, I Am".

The other releases were "Wonderful World" (number four on Billboard), "Silhouettes" a cover of The Rays 1957 hit, went to number five on the charts, and "Just a Little Bit Better" which peaked at number seven. Only two number ones, but still a pretty good year for the group.
