Subject: Nasty goes to The Match

This is my new blog about all things sports.

Warning to any North American readers expecting any of your sports to be featured. They will not. I do not watch Baseball, Basketball, Ice Hockey or American Football.

I am a huge sports fan though. The most important being football, or soccer to those in North America, in particular the team I have supported since I was a boy. Huddersfield Town.

Good luck against Man City today. Will you be watching.

A draw for Colchester yesterday and dropped down to 9th.

Liverpool play Monday evening. crystal Palace always a bit dodgy for us.

Yes I watched, went round to my friends house who has Sky. Wife away though so I had the little ones in tow so mostly watched them rather than the match!

I was not hopeful with last seasons ever present central defender, Zanka, and the usually indestructible Jonathan Hogg both absent from the starting lineup with injury. Two very key players, but even with them on the field I think it would have been a mountain too high. Doesn’t help when your keeper throws in a couple of ricks. Not sold on Hamer, struggling to see why he has kept last seasons ever present keeper Jonas Lossl out of the side.

The silver lining to the cloud is that I have Aguero in my fantasy team and I had made him captain (double points).

:)

Always good to have the silver lining around the dark cloud. Do you have Salah in your fantasy team?
I am not gloating about the Man U score until we have played Crystal Palace away tomorrow and Brighton at home next week. I like Chris Houghton and always thought he was badly treated at Newcastle. It is good to see him doing well.

Ouch? Bernard. Hate to say this, but maybe your lot in for a long struggle this season.

Ruby............quite happy with draw away from home..........though equalising in 5th minute of injury time was leaving things a tad late!

You will certainly have to let him go as he is likely to be out for many weeks..

No doubt it will be a long struggle as it was last season.

I don't worry too much about losing heavily to Man City though. We took some heavy defeats away last year too, the heaviest a 5-0 at Arsenal. In our promotion season we took some hammering too. Wagner seems to have a way of making the players forget recent poor results/performances so yeah.. it will be tough again but losing to Man City and Chelsea doesn't really mean much.

Doggered match against Palace but good win in the end. Okay it was a soft penalty but sakho did touch him with his leg twice so decision was good.

I didn't see any of the Liverpool game.

Colchester ever won a game 6-0 before? Haha, only kidding! Good start for the U's.

I wish I had gone to the match it is only a 20 minute walk from where I live to Weston Homes. . I used to go often a few years back to home games but stopped really when they slipped down the leagues. Also I don't see the person I used to go with anymore!!!

ruby,

Never been to the new stadium, it was built after I moved up here, still Layer Road when I last saw a "home" game.......in fact last time I watched the U's live, was either at Wigan, Blackpool or Preston.

It is very nice but quite cold as the corners are very open to the elements and Colchester have been nose diving since they moved there. The only thig is because it is situated on the outskirts of town there are no local pubs there or atmosphere around the ground. They do say they are going to transform the area with cinemas and restaurants etc but they are more likely to build even more houses there.
And don't get me started on the excessive house building programme here in Colchester!!!!

Have you gone back in time rubytops? We've got the easiest game of the season, on paper at least, as we host Cardiff.

It is a return to Huddersfield for Neil Warnock who managed Town in the early nineties taking us from third to second tier before falling out with the board and leaving in the close season to take on Plymouth (who I think he also took to promotion. Well he gets everyone promoted so that's not a bad assumption). Anyway, the guy has a special place in my mind since he was the manager when I first went to a game.

In the last week of sports (at least the sports I follow) we've seen Djokovic pick up the only Masters title that he was missing to become the only player with the complete set. Great achievement for a great player.

In cricket, England had an awful batting collapse against India and went on to lose to the Kohli inspired Indians. It's 2-1 in the series to England now. The thing that gave some hope was Joss Buttler and Ben Stokes knuckling down to what I'd call a proper test innings in an attempt to save the match. Not sure what's going on with mr reliable Alastair Cook. I wonder if he needs dropping, work on his technique again then come back. Still, the series is finely balanced. Jimmy Anderson went back to the number one ranked bowler after that test. Inspiration to 36 year olds everywhere!

Finally, I hear about a crazy golf exhibition planned between Phil Mickleson and Tiger Woods! Millions of dollars to play for! Pay per view! Wow, will people really pay to watch that? I wouldn't.
