Subject: Nasty goes to The Match

This is my new blog about all things sports.

Warning to any North American readers expecting any of your sports to be featured. They will not. I do not watch Baseball, Basketball, Ice Hockey or American Football.

I am a huge sports fan though. The most important being football, or soccer to those in North America, in particular the team I have supported since I was a boy. Huddersfield Town.

Looking forward to another Rafa vs Roger contest.

Think it might be Serena vs Haley in the women's final? We will see.

Change of sport...............England through to World Cup Cricket Final, after demolition job on Australia in today's Semi-Final.

Yes, very pleased about that. Halfway through the group stage I thought that England were somehow going to conspire to not even make the semi final but have shown why they were pre tournament favourites these past few games.

Shame it’s not on telly that’s all!!

How can the Cricket World Cup Final not be on TV? That seems a shame.

Rafa v Roger is a semi.
Serena v Halep is a final.

Serena/Sir Andy were defeated in the third round.

I'm just catching up, I apologize for spoilers.

The Cricket Final is actually going to be broadcast live on free to air TV. It's just the rest of the tournament that hasn't been. I've made do with highlights. In fairness I probably wouldn't have caught much of it live anyway, but I could have done today during my day off!

Roger vs Rafa is tomorrow! Not sure how much of that I'll catch unless its second on court.

I think Serena Williams will win the Final. She looks good.

Well the Federer vs Nadal match was indeed second on court and thanks to Bautista Agut taking a set from Djokovic I caught quite a bit of it!

Great job by Federer. Repaid the favour from the French Open semi final where Rafa beat him.

I can't really see the great Swiss beating Novak but I really hope he does it.

Roger, at times,(like today,) seems ageless.

I know, he’s remarkable, I can’t see Djokovic and Nadal still playing at this level in five years time when they get to his age.

It’s a joy to watch Roger play these guys. Did you think Federer was tactically spot on though? In the media beforehand he talked down the fact that the two knowing each other’s games know how to counter each other and said something like ‘you can just think it’s a grass court, just go out and play your best game’. Roger definitely used a game plan though. Continually driving it straight down the centre of the court to avoid giving Nadal the angles with which to generate those fearsome forehand shots for one thing. I thought at many times during that match Nadal cut a very frustrated figure.

Look forward to the final.

Basically, overall, I think whilst Nadal is very good.......Federer is better. Time and time again he successfully returns shots you'd bet on nobody getting to, let alone returning.

On grass I would tend to agree... on clay though, different story. Nadal is very much the superior on that surface.

6-2, 6-2............Goodnight Serena Williams. Devastating display by Simona Halep, gave her opponent NO chance.

"Nadal = King of clay"

To anyone who has never seen tennis they might think this to be hyperbole. It is not. In my opinion the greatest clay court player ever.

I only saw highlights of the Women's Final. Halep looked awesome. The pundits were going on about Serena's fitness but from what I saw that is unneccesarily taking away from what looked a remarkable performance from Halep.

I will not be able to watch the Men's Final tomorrow either as I will be working but will keep tabs on the scores whilst at work. Fingers crossed for Federer, but my brain says Djokovic will retain his crown.

Would never watch cricket. I watched the men's final, great game. I never used to like Djokovic but read an article about him and seems actually really nice person.

Each to their own Ruby..........personally given the choice of tennis or cricket to watch, I'd opt for cricket.
