Subject: Nasty goes to The Match

This is my new blog about all things sports.

Warning to any North American readers expecting any of your sports to be featured. They will not. I do not watch Baseball, Basketball, Ice Hockey or American Football.

I am a huge sports fan though. The most important being football, or soccer to those in North America, in particular the team I have supported since I was a boy. Huddersfield Town.

They are 14th in the league.

Leeds lost just before the end so Swansea are now top with Leeds 3rd

YEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

FULL TIME: Colchester United 0-0 Tottenham Hotspur (Colchester win 4-3 on pens)

Lapslie slams home ... and the 2008 winners are out! The Champions League finalists have been knocked out by a side from League Two! Fans flood onto the pitch in celebration! Spurs have gone the same way as Crystal Palace, who were defeated on penalties in the second round. It’s Mauricio Pochettino’s first defeat as Spurs boss to a club from the lower leagues!

Amazing result, well done Colchester.
The headline I saw mentioned the Carabao Cup which I'd never heard of. I'm clearly out of touch; I wish they wouldn't keep changing the name.

Premiership managers, season after season, seem slow to understand that unless they field a strong team against lower league opposition, then they are in danger of seeing their team turned over.
Long may it continue. :) LOL

Chris........It is, I believe, what used to be known as the "League Cup" and name changes are all to do with sponsorship.

Yes it was the League Cup.

I expect Klopp will use a lesser team this evening. probably some of the youngsters and players like Shaqiri, Lovren, Lallana etc.

Ahh, fantastic result for Colchester!! It's one thing premier league teams resting superstars for these games and still field a team of mostly international players who still should comfortably win.

The worse thing is the disdain that lesser teams now show the domestic cup competitions. For our League cup exit against Lincoln earlier this season, Huddersfield had made 10 changes to the team that had played the previous game. That has been representative of how we've treated the cup comps over the past few years... I hate it.

Hope Colchester go on an extraordinary cup run!

I was hoping Liverpool would get Colchester. Sorry you got Crawley away you deserved better. I am still sure these fixtures spare fixed.
Liverpool played as I expected returning players who have been injured as well as Milner. I think there were 4 youngsters including the goalie who did really well and one of the 16 year olds scored. MKDons also made a lot of changes from their last game. It was a good match.

MK Dons made changes... this is what I was referring to. They should call it the reserves cup and have done with any notions that anybody is genuinely trying to win it.

As for L**ds United, I sincerely hope not! I hope that my team can somehow damage their chances in the two fixtures but the realist in me is dreading those derby games. Hard to believe how quickly we have fallen apart.

I'll always have this fantastic memory though, from a fantastic season:

1nn1 - oh, then they can go and win it.......and once they are champions, we can knock them out of the FA Cup again!
btw in that famous (or infamous to Leeds fans) match, 13th February 1971, there was none of this putting out the reserves and fringe players by top teams......Leeds did us the honour of fielding their strongest team (only Bremner was missing as he was injured).
