Subject: Nasty goes to The Match

This is my new blog about all things sports.

Warning to any North American readers expecting any of your sports to be featured. They will not. I do not watch Baseball, Basketball, Ice Hockey or American Football.

I am a huge sports fan though. The most important being football, or soccer to those in North America, in particular the team I have supported since I was a boy. Huddersfield Town.

Sad to see that ALL sports in the United States have either canceled or indefinitely postponed their play.
March Madness(NCAA Basketball Tournament) is one of my favorite things to watch.

Same here.

This particular story amused me though...

I've never played or even watched a Snooker match before. It looks like a bigger table than Pool.

Didn’t realise anyone had replied to my last post, sorry.

A full sized snooker table is 12 feet by 6 feet. That is of course much larger than a pool table which can be 6 by 3 or 7 by 4 I think.

I used to be a fairly average player of snooker until I needed glasses at which point I became hopeless. Still half decent at pool though!

See former snooker player, Dennis Taylor, for glasses solutions that don’t involve contact lenses.

When I was in my teens, my father was residential Steward of the local British Legion Club....we had a flat above the premises.. The club boasted two full size snooker/billiard tables . That's where I learned both games.............odd thing is I usually had the beating of my father at snooker, but seldom beat him at billiards. Preferring snooker, it was alien to me to deliberately sink the cue ball. My record break at snooker was 48.........don't know if that is half decent, or rubbish........but that was the best I did.

Fast forward many years............I was on a company residential course, and the hotel had a pool table in the bar.
"Fancy a game"?, a colleague asked.
"Never played it. You'll have to tell me what to do", I replied.
I beat him!
"Lying B*****", he complained. "I thought you said that you hadn't played Pool before".
"I didn't lie", I told him. "Didn't say that I hadn't played snooker though".

Managed to get my Sky and BT subscriptions postponed by Virgin Media until matches restart. I can still watch those channels but without payment for now.

Footballs is coming back to our screens and I for one can't wait even if it will be so different to watch.
I did watch the Dortmund v Bayern Munich game last week just for a taster of how it might look.

It's funny, I don't think I realized how much I enjoy watching sports, until there was no sports to watch.

As per the Joni Mitchell line in the song Big Yellow Taxi.

You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone.....

And sports documentaries like Last Dance and The Test have scratched the itch a little bit too.

First round of games set times and channels to watch on.
All Liverpool games do far are evening kick offs. Hoping Arsenal beat Man City.

I watched a music documentary called Laurel Canyon the other day. It was about the beginning of Rock and Roll in the USA, one of the featured performers was Joni Mitchell. Some others included Buffalo Springfield, The Hollies, and The Beach Boys. The way that Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young formed.
Very interesting, candid footage, I recommend it.

Unless it is a new programme I watched it a few years ago but have recorded it to watch again as it is the music and artists I love. In the UK the programme was on Sky Arts.
