Subject: Nasty goes to The Match

This is my new blog about all things sports.

Warning to any North American readers expecting any of your sports to be featured. They will not. I do not watch Baseball, Basketball, Ice Hockey or American Football.

I am a huge sports fan though. The most important being football, or soccer to those in North America, in particular the team I have supported since I was a boy. Huddersfield Town.

Thanks for letting me know. Always nice to know which team people support. I am glad it is not Man Utd.
I have been watching the Euro qualifiers and last night Scotland lost to Belgium but Belgium are the top ranked team and Robertson was out with a hamstring problem. I hope he is recovered for start of the season as he plays for Liverpool.

Premier league fixture list no longer concerns me... I'll have my eyes peeled on the 20th though! EFL fixtures out that day.

France did well last night after shooting themselves in the foot with the own goal. Coolly taken pressure penalty.

I've just been reading that the USA team received criticism from some for celebrating all of their goals against Thailand! How ridiculous is that. Playing to your true potential and celebrating it is not disrespectful. In fact I think it would be more disrespectful of the Thai team for them to have not celebrated and enjoyed playing so well to put them to the sword. That would be like, "oh it's only not Thailand, beating them is so easy that we don't get excited about it".

Credit to them for going all the way through the 90 minutes in my opinion.

From what I gather they were not actually criticized because they celebrated their goals and winning but that the nature of the celebrating was excessive and over the top. I never saw it myself so cannot really comment either way.

Well of course I understand you are not interested in Premier league fixtures. The EFL is just as interesting and a great league with good play and matches. I am glad it is given more air time on the TV these days.

The nature of the celebrations was jubilant, gleeful delight and it seemed perfectly natural and heartfelt to me.

Players should be free to take delight in scoring.

These days players are criticised if they celebrate a goal against a former club! Ludicrous! Before and after the match are the times to pay respects to opposition and fans. During the game is the time to perform at your best and be happy if you are winning.

Totallyagred. I have never seen the point in a player not celebrating a goal against any of their previous clubs.
