Subject: Nasty goes to The Match

This is my new blog about all things sports.

Warning to any North American readers expecting any of your sports to be featured. They will not. I do not watch Baseball, Basketball, Ice Hockey or American Football.

I am a huge sports fan though. The most important being football, or soccer to those in North America, in particular the team I have supported since I was a boy. Huddersfield Town.

Well Salah scored one for you and as Man City only drew we are top for at least a week. It was a hard game. Karius has gone on loan to Turkey for 2years. At least the draw gives you a point.

Oh dear. Northampton were a team I used to like as our opposition since we had a great record against them. An Andy Booth hat trick against them a particular highlight.

Well I may have been watching two teams that will be very lucky to finish anywhere above 19th yesterday. Cardiff should have won it in the end because they had two or three gilt edged chances when they put pressure on our ten men toward the end. 11 v 11 Cardiff were never in it though but Huddersfield were doing the huffing and puffing and not creating enough chances. I will hope for more.

Salah and Van Dijk scored me some nice points yes courtesy of a goal and a clean sheet!

Funny thing about Northampton.........one of those teams other than the U's, that I have watched in the past with some regularity.......In Laws lived there, within walking distance of the old County Ground.
Going back a bit though..........early-mid 1960's in old "2nd Division" (Championship).
Others are Portsmouth, Plymouth Argyle, Ipswich Town.....and WAY down in Non-League, Bury Town (Bury St. Edmunds) in Eastern Counties League. ( currently play in Isthmian League North Division).

Interesting fact about Northampton Town. They are the only team to make it from fourth tier to top flight and all the way back down again within a decade. The achieved this impressive feat in the 60's.

My favourite interesting fact about Huddersfield Town is that they are the only team to ever have scored six goals in a league match and still lose.

In the fifties they lost 7-6 away to Charlton, having led 5-1! Ouch!

Nasty..............yes when I watched Northampton they were on their way back down.....I believe they went up AND down in successive seasons.

Did the men in white coats come for your Manager after that result nasty? Talk about snatching defeat from jaws of victory!

Clubs, fans, media weren't so quick to stick in the boot in those days. Managers tended to get a lot more time didn't they? I bet it was a sickener though.

I've seen Town play out 4-4 draws twice I think, those were in the same season. One was a fantastic 4-4 at Hillsborough where Town were 2-0 up, 4-2 down and then two very late goals from Jordan Rhodes (who scored all four for Huddersfield) grabbed a draw. I remember that day so well, I was feeling terrible and had a nasty cold and really sore throats but I wrapped up for the December game and was jumping around and screaming like a nutter despite my symptoms by the end of the game.

We had a work Christmas do that same evening that luckily was held at the Owlerton greyhound track close to Hillsborough stadium, afterwards I went into the casino next door and turned £10 into £250 at the roulette table. Just my lucky day I guess.

I hope Huddersfield beat everyone too! Actually I’m hoping we can at least beat someone! I suppose it’s s good result today, away at Everton.
Congrats to you both on your teams victories. Not happy with Liverpool though. By conceding they robbed me of points for Van Dijk who also got carded. Salah is my other reds player and he didn’t score or assist. Boo!

I lost a lot of points on my Selco Predictor because Huddersfield drew against Everton. I had it down for a win for Everton and not just that but I played my banker on that match which then minused me 30 points. I am not doing well with my predictions this year.
Hate the international breaks.
We have Spurs next and today Watford v Spurs should be interesting for the top of the table places.

Yeah, I’m always sad to see that. Hope he finishes equal or ahead of Nadal in terms of Grand Slam tournament victories. Not that I have anything against Nadal, just never enjoy watching him play as much as I do Federer.

If what us being reported today about David Beckham is true then I'm very disappointed in him. If the story is accurate his representative will try to get him off a speeding offence via a technicality.

This is not the role model I would like him to be.

I hope it's all wrong. Speeding is a real bug bear of mine, there is no reason everyone cannot drive correctly and we would see a vast reduction in accidents overnight. This, if it's correct, lack of responsibility toward taking care of everyone else on the road disgusts me.

Being the upstanding public figure I would prefer him to apologise and take his punishment and make some good publicity for safe driving instead of promoting the 'it's ok if you don't get caught' attitude. Man alive this aggravates me!

I spend every journey looking out for everybody else's families, trying to drive safely and in a manner whereby everyone is going to get home safely and others just don't care, don't look out for or give a damn about anyone else on the road. It's not hard to drive at the speed limits, it doesn't even cost any time really, especially in town or city traffic.
