Subject: Nasty goes to The Match

Posted by: nasty_liar

This is my new blog about all things sports.

Warning to any North American readers expecting any of your sports to be featured. They will not. I do not watch Baseball, Basketball, Ice Hockey or American Football.

I am a huge sports fan though. The most important being football, or soccer to those in North America, in particular the team I have supported since I was a boy. Huddersfield Town.

The match is on Sky Sports tonight. I think it will be interesting to see how the youngsters fair. Villa may also play a weakened team as they need to concentrate on Premier League and not getting relegated again.

Well Villa have indeed named a weakened side as they did in the previous rounds of the cup also.

I agree it will be interesting but ultimately I think we will be able to use the cliche, men against boys!

The score does not really reflect that for youngsters they played fairly well. The Aston Villa manager was very complimentary about the skill and technical ability shown in their play. This has also been said in the media.

No different really than Colchester losing to Man United. Sorry Ray I wish they had won and they played well in the first half apparently.

Next up the Final of Championship World Cup on Saturday....probably again without Van Dijk. Playing a very good Brazilian side. Could be tricky.

U's had a good run Ruby.........eventual exit is the fate of most small clubs in cup competitions, but they had a decent financial reward. Probably be a good few years before they next play in front of 58,000 spectators!

Thought Liverpool deserved their win, better team throughout, just couldn't finish, until they eventually managed it in extra time.
As usual the dreaded VAR struck again...............referee decided the foul was outside the area (by about 1/4 of an inch) and Liverpool were robbed of what, before the advent of VAR, would have been seen as a clear cut penalty.

Big match for Liverpool tonight. Leicester away. On Prime which is a pain but neighbour over the road, also Liverpool supporter, did the Prime monthly trial so I will go over there to watch.

Never saw it, but a 4-0 win for Liverpool sounds fairly comprehensive!

I also love to see Firmino scoring some of the goals.

Although I don't get to see Liverpool aside from highlights, to me he is the most important member of the attack, and also the least celebrated.

He is my favourite Liverpool player. Deserves the goals he has got recently. A clever player.

As a Liverpool fan can you bear to leave 2019? It can only be downhill! Preposterous league record over 2019, won champions league and World club cup...

We also won the EUFA Super Cup.

Just hope we can keep it up in 2020. There is that elusive other cup we have our eyes set on.

Have a wonderful New Year and may Huddersfields prospects get better and
Colchester also Ray. I would like to see them out of the 2nd division.

You know fans of teams like Liverpool are spoiled rotten! I mean they are USED to and ACCUSTOMED to winning leagues, cups....whatever.!

Those "lesser lights" that exist, can go DECADES or more, without winning ANYTHING (cant we Nasty?) Which, makes any out of thew ordinary success a source of rich satisfaction to their fans, and the event still gets talked about half a century later!

Howsoever..........HAPPY NEW YEAR to all..........and to all those who follow and support teams of any sport.........may your team enjoy success in 2020.
