The match is on Sky Sports tonight. I think it will be interesting to see how the youngsters fair. Villa may also play a weakened team as they need to concentrate on Premier League and not getting relegated again. Reply #541. Dec 17 19, 12:38 PM |

The score does not really reflect that for youngsters they played fairly well. The Aston Villa manager was very complimentary about the skill and technical ability shown in their play. This has also been said in the media. No different really than Colchester losing to Man United. Sorry Ray I wish they had won and they played well in the first half apparently. Next up the Final of Championship World Cup on Saturday....probably again without Van Dijk. Playing a very good Brazilian side. Could be tricky. Reply #545. Dec 19 19, 2:20 AM |

U's had a good run Ruby.........eventual exit is the fate of most small clubs in cup competitions, but they had a decent financial reward. Probably be a good few years before they next play in front of 58,000 spectators! Reply #546. Dec 19 19, 11:17 AM |

Thought Liverpool deserved their win, better team throughout, just couldn't finish, until they eventually managed it in extra time. As usual the dreaded VAR struck again...............referee decided the foul was outside the area (by about 1/4 of an inch) and Liverpool were robbed of what, before the advent of VAR, would have been seen as a clear cut penalty. We also won the EUFA Super Cup. Just hope we can keep it up in 2020. There is that elusive other cup we have our eyes set on. Have a wonderful New Year and may Huddersfields prospects get better and Colchester also Ray. I would like to see them out of the 2nd division. Reply #559. Dec 31 19, 3:46 PM |

You know fans of teams like Liverpool are spoiled rotten! I mean they are USED to and ACCUSTOMED to winning leagues, cups....whatever.! Those "lesser lights" that exist, can go DECADES or more, without winning ANYTHING (cant we Nasty?) Which, makes any out of thew ordinary success a source of rich satisfaction to their fans, and the event still gets talked about half a century later! Howsoever..........HAPPY NEW YEAR to all..........and to all those who follow and support teams of any sport.........may your team enjoy success in 2020. Reply #560. Dec 31 19, 4:33 PM |
