If you like stupid ridiculous Steve Carrell humor, ya gotta watch the new Netflix farce, season 1, "Space Force". Reply #282. Jun 26 20, 1:49 PM |

You can get some episodes of my third favourite "funny" show on YouTube - it's called Taskmaster. The basic premise is that a bunch of comedians (five) visit a house in suburban London and are set a task which they have to complete within a time limit. They don't know what the task is in advance, and they will be followed around whilst completing it by a man with a clipboard (the Asst. Taskmaster who actually thought of the idea) who can sometimes be persuaded to join in. At the end of the week they gather in the studio and points are awarded by the Taskmaster (another comedian called Greg Davies). The tasks often seem straightforward but there's always a catch. Plus these are comedians, you just know their brains work differently and their approach to, say, throwing an egg into a metal tube may not be as simple as it might be. Or perhaps you'd like to take a wind-up toy man on a bicycle for the ride of a lifetime? Or make a three course dinner with ingredients of your choice that must start with every letter of the alphabet? Well worth a trip to YouTube in my opinion. :D Reply #283. Jun 26 20, 2:51 PM |

That sounds like a good time :) Makes me miss Robin Williams. Could you imagine him doing say, The Amazing Race?! This sounds a bit like that? I just watched Second Act, a romantic comedy movie starring Jennifer Lopez. She's 40, works in a grocery store, gets a high-level job based on a lie--fun characters. It's a chick flick I suppose. On that note, I hear US baseball is coming back! Oorah! Reply #284. Jun 26 20, 7:29 PM |

Thanks for those additions, Mixa. :) I'm on episode I think 5 of "Space Force". I thought it might degenerate into plain old stupid but no. It's gaining depth and plot as we go. While making me laugh with stupid. Refreshing. Reply #286. Jun 28 20, 1:52 PM |

I just finished binge-watching Professor T., a three-season (39 episodes) show set in Antwerp. He's a "Monk"-like character who teaches criminology but assists the police on cases. Also like Monk, he has a personal case to solve while living with his strange personal quirks. A really good supporting cast helps this series. I'd love to hear from anyone else who's watched it! (I think I got it as a Masterpiece add-on to Prime.) Reply #287. Jun 29 20, 6:55 AM |

That sounds wonderful. I will definitely look for that. Anyone seen it? I saw a most beautiful movie yesterday. "Ladies in Lavender". An elderly Maggie Smith and Judi Dench find a young man washed up on the beach and take him in. Reminds me of "Trip to Bountiful" Reply #288. Jun 29 20, 12:39 PM |

From imdb plot summary: a North Carolina farmer in April 1815. August King, a widower, is on his way home... he comes upon a run-away slave, a 17 year old young woman and King must decide to violate the law and help this slave to freedom or leave her to be hunted down and, ultimately, returned to her slave owner. But the drama turns into a question of whether either soul will gain freedom. Sounds excellent. Reply #291. Jun 30 20, 5:23 PM |

Re post 277: Hidden Figures. Excellent movie. To me, it felt a bit like watching a Twilight Zone episode. So sad to know it was as real as Mississippi Burning. Reply #294. Jun 30 20, 10:36 PM |

Masterpiece add-on to Prime sounds worthwhile. I took a look at "Professor T" overview. I would like it. I watch the "Monk" marathons. Reply #296. Jul 01 20, 1:55 AM |

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. Tom Hanks plays Mr. Rogers. Hanks never attains the light, loving sparkle that Mr. Rogers had, but I liked it a lot. Not what I expected. 1776. Excellent. Good weekend to watch it of course. Reply #300. Jul 05 20, 12:39 AM |
