Curious, what are you watching while the world spins around us?

What's your favorite thing about it? Does it help you get through?

I've started the British version "In the Line of Duty"! It has lots of kudos to live up to. But, episode one is captivating.

Paul, were you able to get "The Handmaid's Tale"?

Angelina Jolie is in a new action thriller film, her first of that genre in some time.

Is anyone watching His Dark Materials? It's among the "best shows" but I haven't seen it.

I watched it. The second season wasn't as good as the first season and Lord Asriel only made one brief appearance in the final episode. I have higher hopes for the third season, whenever that may arrive. It is on HBO Max.

"Little Fires Everywhere" with Reese Witherspoon, a 2020 TV series on Netflix. I've only seen the first episode but it's quite good.

It's the sort of place you get warned about if you go to another country. It's grimy, drug-dealing, crime-infested, and you wouldn't want your car to break down there. It's Napoli, run by the Camorra, and not an ice cream in sight. It has Don Pietro, Cino, a prison, dead bodies, and subtitles. And it's called Gomorrah. With or without an 'h'.

I'm addicted. And I'm only on episode 4!

Thanks flopsy! "Gomorra". This is a 2014 crime drama which, according to wiki, "...has gained critical acclaim for its characterization, pacing, atmosphere, acting, directing, and writing.." Look like another nail-biter winner.

Akin to "Sopranos"? AND there's a prequel-sequel-spinoff (whatever THAT is called), "The Immortals".

I hear some movie theatres are opening. Some movies are showing only at live theatres, like the new Fast and Furious, after a year on the shelf due to the pandemic. This film releases in the USA June 25.

It's a good story. I have also read the book, by Celest Ng. I am not a fan of Kerry Washington though.

Yes, I have watched and enjoyed both seasons. I think it's more about Lyra's story, rather than Lord Asriels. Just my opinion though.

Lord Asriel is from His Dark Materials.
Sounds like you stay on top of the best shows Rockstar. What are you watching right now?

Yip I know. I do feel it's more about Lyra, than him.

I am seriously into the documentaries on Netflix at the moment. There are some really good ones on there. I also enjoy fantasy....I am waiting patiently for Season 2 of Locke and Key. I started watching Sweet Tooth the other night. I will see how that goes. The only downside about binge watching, is one has to wait a whole year for the next season!

Just curious: has anyone checked out "Marcella"? (Netflix)
Did you enjoy it?

Learned something new again, thanks. This "Marcella" is a "British Nordic-noir". Unsure how a show gets to be a British Scandinavian show? But here's the Wiki take on Nordic noir:

Wiki: "Nordic noir, also known as Scandinavian noir or Scandi noir, is a genre of crime fiction usually written from a police point of view and set in Scandinavia or Nordic countries...". Descriptors include 1990s, bleak, complex, plain spoken, dark, social criticism. Examples "The Bridge" "The Killing" "Trapped". I liked all of those.

Anyone watched "The Woman in The Window" on Netflix? It's a really good watch, a thriller starring Amy Adams.

I have really enjoyed quite a few documentaries on Netflix. I realise some of them are rather old, but they are programs we never got to see in South Africa, so new for me! :)

Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich
One of Us - about the Hasidic Jewish community in NY - really interesting.
Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez
The Pharmacist - about the opioid epidemic in USA. There are some amazing people in the world, and this guy (Dan Schneider) is one of them.
Three Identical Strangers
The College Admissions Scandal
Surviving R. Kelly
Trial 4
The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez
Pele
Murder Mountain
The Last Days - Hungarian Holocaust Survivors
Murder Among the Mormons
Elizabeth & Margaret: Love and Loyalty
and most recently, A Lion in the House a tough watch to be honest.

I tried watching 'Abducted in Plain Sight' but it's such a ghastly story I had to abandon it I'm afraid.

@paulmallon have you tried watching Abducted in Plain Sight. That is such a sickening tale, I could not finish watching it.
