I saw the remake of The Producers. I was way impressed with Matthew Broderick. I had no idea he can sing, and dance, as well as act, all while looking like a goofus. Not easy. Reply #541. Nov 11 20, 11:58 AM |

Today I saw the movie "Noah". Played by boxing, gladiating, phone-throwing Russell Crowe? Come on now.... Surprised me. He's fabulous. The bad guy I have to say, is a little better. Creepy, skin-crawly, understated bad. With the ever-amazing Anthony Hopkins. Reply #542. Nov 11 20, 8:10 PM |

Just found the original 39 episodes of The Honeymooners on U-Tube Watched eight of them yesterday. I believe I have memorized every word from every episode, having seen them probably 20+ times, but I still love watching the antics of Ralph, Alice, Norton and Trixie. My favorite one yesterday was when Ralph gave his boss some of "Granmars Delicious Mystery Appetizer, which turned out to be...are you ready? DOGFOOD:-) Reply #544. Nov 12 20, 1:58 PM |

Nothing yet on "Barbarians". Did you go ahead and watch it, Paul? "Guarding Tess" with Shirley Maclaine and Nicolas Cage. A little soppy in the middle but overall good fun. Reply #546. Nov 13 20, 9:40 PM |

Due South and Northern Exposure TV series are quirky and fun-- Canadian. Due South is about a CN Mountie who is a little Get Smart and a little James Bond ; In Northern Exposure a big-city MD finds himself in a far north village full of characters. Reply #548. Nov 14 20, 4:38 PM |

Thanks C-30, kinda like "Hell on Wheels". I have not yet watched "Barbarians" but put it on my list. I will watch it with less than lofty expectation, so less likely to be disappointed:-) Reply #549. Nov 14 20, 5:01 PM |

Northern Exposure was a lot of fun, but Alaska, not Canada. If you're looking for a Canadian series about the north, you can probably find North of 60 somewhere. Reply #550. Nov 15 20, 8:03 AM |

Has anyone mentioned "Queen's Gambit" yet. It's a little predictable at times, but is generally pretty good--well worth the time I spent on it. The first episode is really good. I also enjoyed "Des" on Sundance/Now. David Tennant is really good as the title character. Reply #552. Nov 16 20, 2:05 PM |

Sorry about overusing "really good." I think my vocabulary is petrifying along with my body during this pandemic. Reply #553. Nov 16 20, 2:07 PM |

I'm enjoying a new British detective TV series. Nearly all of them well done. Pretty sure Flopsy would be okay with lots of "good". Ed Sullivan always said it. "Really, really good show..." I saw episode 1 Gambit. Entranced. Maybe dwells on some things. "Yes we GET it", I want to say. Still, really really good. Reply #555. Nov 16 20, 11:49 PM |

I'm okay with a few "really good" comments, they can be really good and make everyone feel really good. However, you can get into trouble if you're quite good. To an American, quite good is good, it may even be very good, and on occasion really good. But to a Brit, quite good is probably not very good, in fact it may not be good at all, because, quite frankly quite good is only one grade up from being absolute rubbish. :D Reply #558. "Northern Exposure" was filmed just up the pass from where we live. The town is called Roslyn. The Brick (the restaurant) is a real place and it is located in the heart of town. They kept the tiny studio of Radio KBHR intact and one may stand on the sidewalk, look through the window, and imagine Chris Stevens (John Corbett) doing "Chris in the Morning" from there.
