Curious, what are you watching while the world spins around us?

What's your favorite thing about it? Does it help you get through?

I de-stress most nights with a single episode of either Vampire Diaries or The Originals. The Originals is about the history of the in particular vampire characters and their town; while VD is a lighter soap opera touch about later generations in the same town. But, since The Originals live forever, they appear occasionally in VD. I'm watching the songs concurrently.

Like Flopsy I'm distressed. But in my case it's because I only have one season left in VD. It's delicious (and embarrassing) when you come to care about a cast of characters so much it's tough to see them go. Next fantastic torture: Line of Duty. And, I need something funny.

watching the songs? I cannot even explain that error. I meant to say "shows" I believe. My housemate is a professional singer so maybe I have songs on the brain.

Anyway...not looking forward to losing my TV balm. More sympathies going out to Flopsy. Who IS going to tell us what happened??

If you're going to watch it I'm not sayin' nuffink. You can grill me with an icy glare from Chief Superintendent Carmichael, confound me with DI Arnott's accent, or make me wish that DI Fleming was my best friend but I'm keeping quiet for much longer than it takes to move into lifelong immunity. Wild horses, Mary, Joseph, and the wee donkey wouldn't drag it out of me. :D

What can one possibly say to THAT? Such amazing willpower.

I will have to watch. Line of Duty, UK style if possible. Highly recommended, everyone.

I'm almost done with a quiz about movies that "heal the world", for a Wesley Crusher challenge.

What movies have you seen that felt like they change the world for the better?

Godwit, how about a movie that makes people laugh?

Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey (sometimes listed as The Incredible Journey) always makes me, and all I know, cry at the end when it looks like the pets won't make it home. Yes, I know they do make it! But it leaves a warm feeling at the end.

It's one of the shows I keep meaning to see and somehow haven't yet. Now I'm looking more forward to it, MiraJane, thanks!

The film festivals are back!
For instance Cannes is opening in July, with "Annette", a musical.

I read that the biggest concern on the minds of millions is "Now that I'm getting out of sweat pants, what shall I wear?!"

Not forgetting that many are still trapped in the pandemic, and many suffering--some places are opening their doors, with the usual precautions.

Just looking up Kim Coates as per Paul's recommendation.

Born in 1958 in Canada. He played Alex "Tig" Trager in "Sons of Anarchy", and in a breakout Hollywood novelty, he's been married to the same lady, Diana, since 1984.

Kim is a name given to both genders, around the world.

"The Handmaid's Tale" is back!

This is an outstanding TV series. Not for kids, and tough material. I understand this is the last season.

In the US the trend this week is for the "fully vaccinated" (full shots plus 2 weeks) to go back to somewhat normal living. Though only about 50% of the entire US has that status, the CDC says the FV can go without masks in many places, and HUGS are coming back.

But in some states well over 45% are F.V. How about in your country? Are you starting to move off the TV and Streaming couch? Are we taking our pale, weary, weakened bodies outside, instead? Are you done watching every series and old drama we can think of?

(Acknowledging that some countries and US areas are still heavily affected by the pandemic).

No, less than 40% of the USA is fully vaccinated as of today. The number of people that have are at least partially vaccinated, have the first shot of a double shot vaccine, is over 50%. Sadly, many people have decided not to go back for the second shot. Why? "fear of side effects" is the answer most commonly given.

The Community section of the Forums has a thread about with and through the pandemic if anyone is interested in joining a discussion there.

Paul The Handmaid's Tale is available on Hulu seasons 1-3. Season four is on now, each Tuesday late p.m. Season 5 is likely the last, not yet available.
Well worth the 7 bucks or so for Hulu, which often gives a free trial month.

Anyone know where else to catch it?

Well, that's very irritating. I was going to start watching the Handmaid's Tale this weekend having seen it listed on one of the channels I can get; after reading this thread I went in search of it and there it is, gone.

Anyway, in the process of searching I found the movie, The American President, which I have seen before. Several times. So now I've seen it again.

I love The American President. Fun movie.

I just rather accidentally saw "The Sentinel" with Michael Douglas
"somehow" pulling off a devastatingly handsome secret service agent, framed for treason. I believe it's nearly the same theme as 12 other movies he's done, and he looks fantastic in all of them. Fine actor.

Sorry about The Handmaid's Tale, flopsy. Don't try to get the word on what's happening this season. No way. I ain't saying nothing no how.
