Curious, what are you watching while the world spins around us?

What's your favorite thing about it? Does it help you get through?

"Marcella" on N'flix is about British female cop caught up in a murder mystery.
A friend reccommended it, and I watched four 4 episodes last night.
I'll watch a few more tonight.

I love cop shows Paul.

There's lots of great reviews of "The Man Who Sold His Skin", about a Syrian refugee who is accepted into Europe as a "work of art" after extensive tattoos.

Been "travelling" through the medium of TV mysteries. Discovered an eccentric French sleuth named Capitaine Marleau, whom I just adore, although the episodes can turn suddenly very dark. And then there's a British police show from a few years ago called 'Murder City'; I like it, but I don't know why. Tried to watch an American one called 'Cracker' but I couldn't even get through one episode, the title characters was so unlikable. I'm going to give an the Italian 'Inspector Manara' a try later, and the Icelandic 'The Cliff' is on the watchlist, too.

Thanks for stopping in with those great shares, Gracious. Let us know how they work out for you.

Those Icelandic shows I've tried have been fascinating. Check out "Professor T" also, if you haven't.

I'm still watching YouTube, and to a lesser extent, BitChute. But I've been watching old clips from The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Modern comedians could take a thousand notes from some of the old masters on how to be funny.

Over the weekend, there was a lecture on CSPAN-3 American History TV on Johnny Carson and political humor. Very interesting. He wasn't necessarily as "political" as the current late night hosts are, but he aimed a lot of his jokes at comedians.

I had to go watch some YouTube Johnny Carson. His guests were always great, too.

I saw Jack Nicholson in "The Pledge" film, 2002 I think. That guy is so incredible.

It's not a fun movie, but, really good.

Anybody watched 'Behind Her Eyes' on Netflix. It stars Eve Hewson, Bono's (of U2 fame) daughter. It's a really good thriller.

"Wander"
Tommy Lee Jones--A mentally unstable detective is convinced a recent death in town is related to the much earlier death of his daughter.

I haven't seen it but the ratings are very good.

By coincidence the show I just saw with Jack Nicholson has a similar plot. "The Pledge". I saw the last 30 minutes. It seems a good detective was after a child-murderer who others are sure they caught. No one believes him so he's gone a bit mad. Maybe this showing on Netflix just as Wander is out is no coincidence?

Maybe I should just sit in a quiet, darkened room or climb the walls whilst biting my fingernails down to the quick, maybe the suspense will kill me, maybe... but if Line of Duty has another cliff-hanger at the end of the next episode I swear I'll just pick up my tv and throw it through the window. Definately.

(No, it's not a typo, yes, I can spell correctly, but to Line of Duty fans it's a clue. Allegedly. Has been a clue since the beginning. Apparently. But do I know what it means? Aargh!)

There aren't many TV shows can make you feel like THAT, flopsy. Perfect, during this pandemic. Line of Duty is first on my list, next.

I'm not watching it yet because only during a pandemic would I be caught up in the compelling Elijah who is a gentlemen's vampire in love with a werewolf who had his brother vampire/wolf/witch's child but she's marrying a different werewolf so that wolves everywhere are united! Meanwhile a witch is in love with a dying witch (former vampire) the brother of the elegant Elijah. Their sweet sister had to jump into the body of ....because their evil brother is....well never mind. It's not nearly the same as TV-tossing screaming agony of well-written suspense. But, the acting is surprisingly excellent. And it is set in the amazing Quarter of New Orleans. "The Originals".

P.S. A quiet, darkened room seems in order. Be sure the walls are squishy with padding...

Hopefully, in May we will be watching Eurovision. I'll be streaming it the Finnish broadcaster, YLE. I don't understand a word of Finnish, but that's the one wich isn't geoblocked in the United States!

Thanks for sharing that. I hope at the least you can get language translation across your screen!?

What's Geoblocking, some ask?
It's blocking online access to content, like Netflix or a particular show, usually blocked from a specific location. Such as an entire country.
The given reasons are protecting copyright, honoring licensing agreements or protecting online content. Geoblocking, they say, can also keep out malicious traffic, make sure prices are paid, and assure laws of a country are followed. Geoblocking is also used to prevent fraud and stop online gambling.

It's worth researching the subject. Meanwhile, it's darn inconvenient in a pandemic. We can't talk here about bypassing a legal process (I think we'd have flopsy in fits faster than you can say Jack Rabbit), but, we do help each other find shows so we don't miss them.

I would have conniptions!

I always thought that was a Dickensian word but apparently it's North American, who knew?

A fit of violent emotion, such as anger or panic.
n.
An attack of hysteria; a fit of rage or vexation.

We don't want flopsy having any of those! I can't find an origin, except "mid 19th century creation, mostly North American". Highly unsatisfying.
I did find a new word "gleefreshing".

It's being called "The strangest Oscar ceremony" ever. In the US watch it this Sunday on ABC. No host, no Zoom. It will be held "in-person" at 2 different venues.
