Curious, what are you watching while the world spins around us?

What's your favorite thing about it? Does it help you get through?

LOl! Judging by the caked-on makeup foundation I see on one actor, with a clear line at this jaw where it stops--I'd say remote make-up isn't working out too well. But I suppose you act like someone's mirror. You mail them the make up, then you get on Zoom and tell them what to apply and where, while you watch. Then cross their fingers or say a prayer, cuz it won't be a professional level result.

It all sounds complex and awkward. People trying to broadcast from their coat closets and whatnot. Still, as a friend pointed out today, they must be so relieved to be working again, they'll do hand stands or whatever it takes.

Netflix just started (this month), a four hour "documentary" about the life and times of Francis Albert Sinatra. From cradle to grave, from rock bottom to the top of the heap, it is a most interesting look at many parts of his life that were previously unknown (at least to me anyway). I watched one hour last night, and look forward to doing the same later.
It's called "Sinatra: All or Nothing at All". Highly recommended story of the man who I consider to be the Greatest American Entertainer ever.

I hear that a number of movies are finished, such as a James Bond, Legally Blonde and other sequels, but the producers wanted to release them in theater. Since that isn't profitable at this time, some are going to release on cable instead; some are going to hold their films for a future release.

I wonder about the Mission Impossible sequel? Cruise was filming it in Italy when the pandemic broke out there.

Oh! Something fun unrelated to media. Grown kids with nothing else to do designed all manner of no-contact methods to get candy to kids on Halloween (Oct 31). One guy has a ghost that somehow shoots out to the street curb, holding beer or soda for adults, and candy for kids. Other guys have pipes that shoot candy out to the front porch. They have a great time testing various candies to see which go down the pipes easily. One fellow's favorite, Reese's Buttercups, just won't eject properly. So the guy was 'forced' to eat all of his. I heard this story on the radio, today. I suppose one could use the mail opening or the cat door? But will kids be out there to receive these creative offerings?

A sweet funny British TV series, "Last Tango in Halifax".
Two unique elderly meet again sixty years later, and realize they are still in love. Their kids and grand kids have many mishaps and problems. Great characters and fine actors.

That's a great series and it won many awards over here. One of the 'children' is played by Sarah Lancashire who also played the lead in 'Happy Valley', a dour tale of policing in the north of England; don't expect happy endings and some of the subject matter is raw and uncomfortable to watch, but it's great television.

I'm learning from you all that British shows aren't partial to happy endings. I wish so much that the two elders find happiness-- they are so darn adorable!--though the background music and foreshadow hints (and now your post too) suggest otherwise. Oh noooooooooo

I hope you enjoy Sinatra:-)

Is "Last Tango in Halifax" airing on either Netflix or Amazon Prime?
Thanks.

Last Tango has its moments but I was actually referring to Happy Valley in my previous post.

However, if you want a British comedy, try 'dinnerladies', in which Anne Reid has a leading role. The show (two series) was written by, and stars, the late, great, funny, and much loved Victoria Wood. If you can find anything with Victoria Wood in it, watch it. She didn't only do comedy, though that's what she was famous for, but whatever she did was good.

Last Tango is on BBC iPlayer (All 5 series) if you can get it.

I paid I think $4.99 for Britbox, Paul, via Amazon Prime. Once you have Britbox you get a load of detective and investigator series some of which are stellar.

Oh sorry Flopsy. I am relieved to hear "Last Tango" isn't the show you meant. I read that Reid's husband (who sadly died at just 45 or so), was a huge fan of victoria wood and mentored her into her career. It will be fun to see Wood and Reid together.

I signed up for Britbox last month. I like the shows, but the interface isn't very user friendly.

More tv and movies released this week. More tv series resuming production. We may escape the predicted November dearth! Anything new you've seen and what do you think?

Cinema still clinging to the edge by its fingernails.

Interesting! Fargo 4th season is out. Noel somebody said on radio they took off 6 months, quarantined everyone in various countries, and created a 50 page corvid protocol manual for how to proceed with shooting . Including how all staff keep distance from actors, since actors can't wear masks.

That is inspiring inspiration and grit. Haven't seen the show, though.

Gotta see that! Does Grudge have advanced abilities or at least a willingness to utilize high tech stuff?

"The Perfect Weapon" about cyber attacks and hacking, the "war short-of-war" is out on HBO. In case you're in need of more disaster viewing.

(A fun book, "Escape Goat" is out as well. I put that great title in the author challenge)
