Curious, what are you watching while the world spins around us?

What's your favorite thing about it? Does it help you get through?

Post Script: Fair warning, Season 1 Fleabag our talented star spends a great deal of time having meaningless sex.

I like Season 2 better. She falls for a priest who for the most part realizes she isn't truly in love with him, but, he can't resist her, potentially destroying his Calling and his life. She's a little like the devil in the desert, except she is lost. She can't let go of her best friend who died.

I just watched "River." It's a 6-part BBC mini-series with Stellan Skarsgård and Nicola Walker. Brilliant writing and brilliant acting. (And I can't get the song in it out of my head.) I saw someone recommended "The Missing" - that's a great series. Now I'm off to start at the beginning of this thread to look for something else to watch.

Mixamatosis: From the "My Trip to Iceland" thread--
There was a Scandinavian show called 'The Bridge'. 'Wallender' is another one (There are 2 versions; one with a Scandi actor in the lead, the other has Kenneth Branagh in the lead). There's one called 'The Killing' and a Danish political show (excellent drama) called 'Borgen'.

I also like an Italian detective show called 'Inspector Montalbano'.

I just finished watching The Nest. A recent drama on BBC. I often record the whole series and then watch all episodes one after the other.

I have been watching the new comedy series Kate and Koji which has just finished. I found it very funny. It stars Brenda Blethyn best known for the detective series Vera. A very versatile actress.

A Madcap film that always makes me laugh is What's Up Doc with Ryan O'Neil and Barbra Streisand.

Just to quiz drop....If you like this film I have a quiz on it on the site.

Streisand is very funny, I agree. She never got much credit for that. I haven't seen What's Up Doc so I'll check it out. Thanks. I must have seen The Way We Were 10 times :)

"Quiz-drop"? lol. I think that's fair, and players like to know what's out there they might enjoy.

You know RubyTops made me realize that while we're watching TV shows and movies if there are related quizzes, that's a good time to take them. Let us know if you know of some for whatever you are watching.

Here's Better Call Saul, season 5:

Geez. Could I have made that sentence any more convoluted. Do over:

If you'd like, if you know of FT quizzes on a show you are watching, post a link or give us a shout here.

Jerry Seinfeld is doing a comedy stand up, 5 May, on Netflix.

He says he's comfortable being a senior citizen, and he's no less irritable than ever. He did all the writing himself, much of it before the pandemic.

I suppose the show will be about nothing?

The Conqueror Wyrm/Witchfinder General starring Vincent Price is available on Youtube if anyone is interested. It’s a great classic film.

Season 3 of Killing Eve is shaping up well. Back on form I'd say.

I've got Amazon Prime so I'm going to binge The Office (US) over the coming weeks.

Ah, Killing Eve.

What an excellent, crazy ride that is. Great characters. Their sheet insane weirdness, both of them, is too much for me sometimes.

How about Handmaid's Tale?
Other Hulu shows? The Affair. I watched both of them to about season 2 or 3 and then haven't seen them since. Same with Homeland.

I didn't like Killing Eve but I know it is really popular over here.
I am catching up with 'The A Word' as a new series is starting soon.

What is the A Word about, Rubytops?

The A Word is about a family with a child who is autistic. It starts prior to the diagnosis and how the family react and come to terms with it. There is an extended family and other things going on within the family circle. In the first series the child is 5 and has just started school. The young actor playing the role is exceptional in the second series he is 7. I never fancied it when it was first screened but my sister said it was good and they are just about to screen a third series and the trailer looked good so I decided to watch the first and second series on I player. I am now on the second series just about to watch episode 3.

I don't know how I could have forgotten these two because they're both great television - and they're both French.

I've been watching the first one for years and wait every year for a new series - in English it's called "Spiral", in French "Engrenages". It's a cop/lawyer show, set in Paris. This is not the romantic Paris of tourist legend, no Eiffel Tower, no dinner for two on the Seine, and no red roses for romance - this is a grimy, gritty Paris, with drugs, corruption, and mucky streets more familiar perhaps to Europeans who know that it rains in Paris much more often than it does in London. This is the Paris of Captain Laure Berthaud who treads a fine line between principle and jaundiced pragmatism, of prosecuting magistrate Pierre Clément who's so good looking it should be a crime, and Judge François Roban, older, wiser, and still not quite accepted by the judicial powers-that-be, probably because he's incorruptible.

The Bureau is about deep cover French spies, largely in the Middle East. I won't tell you much more about it or I'd have to kill you - but it is tense, nerve-wracking, and beautifully done. And the CIA are so bad you wonder whose side they're on!
