Curious, what are you watching while the world spins around us?

What's your favorite thing about it? Does it help you get through?

Thanks HairyBear for the animated series suggestions! That's great. We have had a few here and there but no list.

Always welcome your suggestions FatherSteve. I remember being crazy about Bullwinkle when I was a kid. And Yogi. And the Jetson's maid Rosie was pretty cool.

"My Octopus Teacher" is a new documentary, I think on Netflix. A deep sea diver is befriended by a special octopus, who shows him secrets about her undersea world. True story.

Did anyone talk about or are you watching "Fargo" the TV adaptation? Chris Rock.

It looks to be good.

"The Paradise". A TV series period piece about the first department store, the charm and drive of the man who created it, and the clerks who work there.

It was a "if you liked this (Howard's End) Prime Video suggests The Paradise".
So far, good pick. May be akin to Mr. Selfridge. ?

Rob Lowe, anyone? I'm watching his "Wild Bill".

Via Britbox. He's an American failed cop who takes a job in apparently a small town in England? No one really wants him there. The script is so-so but the US-British aspect is fun. And Lowe looks good no matter what he's doing so there's always that.

Saw Episode 1 of ...it's so bad I'm blanking on the name. It's about British intelligence. It might be called Intelligence? They are extreme nerds, and then an American obnoxious, rude, overly confident agent shows up. He's overplayed with nothing to like about him. Lowe has a similar role in Wild Bill but pulls it off.

Netflix is showing "Ratched", a prequel to One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

Star Trek Lower Decks animated series on Crave Not bad. WARNING not for kids. I didn't (and still don't) like the animated series that came out in 1973

I started "Ratched" last night. I watch Episode 1, then decided to watch E.2. Then wondered why I had.
It's so pathetically bad it's almost funny.
Ed Wood was the director of what is gererally regarded as the worst movie ever made: "Plan 9 from Outer Space". I suspect one of his decendants must have had a hand in this.
Hey, it's better than nuttin' these days...just don't take it seriously.

So disappointed to hear Ratched is awful.
Vikings very violent (no surprise) yet good i think also.

Watched Emmys? I hear the Canadian tv comedy Schit's Creek took 9 awards. Watchmen won big. What else?

To paulmallon (and all others): I agree. When we first watched "Ozark," both my wife and I agreed that she was the best thing about the series. She's been really good in everything I've seen her in.

I started watching season 1 of Schitt's Creek when it first came out, and I was disappointed because I like Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara so much. I guess I'm going to have to go back and give it another chance. Maybe, like a lot of series, it gets better and better each year.

I had a 10 day "vacation" when Hurricane Laura blew through and knocked out our power. No generator during the hottest and most humid days this year. I think this is the first storm that was still a hurricane by the time it got to us; we're more than 150 miles from the coast. Lots of the people in Lake Charles are still without power and the rains from Beta are coming in.

I was mid country and photoed the ominous clouds, remnant's of Hurricane Laura, blasting by overhead. That was a storm of storms. Hope Beta did you no harm.

On the radio they keep say, "S Creek" lol, so as not to be misheard. That seems odd. We have to censure a word that merely sounds like on we censure? Me too after "Best in Show" I was excited about A Creek, but didn't get the draw. Like you, gave up too soon it seems.

Ozark. Someone suggested that here a while back. What else is Garner in that you and the Mrs like?

Geez. Apologies for the auto-correct errors I failed to look for. Have I mentioned I discovered auto-correct, and some of the sub-titles on news and tv shows, are done by artificial intelligence? Supposedly one day after enough exposure to language it will self-teach, learn informal speech, and stop making us all sound (and feel) incompetent.

Silent Witness an excellent detective/coronor show. Lacks jolly "Bones" comraderie. Fascinating complex story lines.

OZARK
I watched episode I.
It's going to be stellar. More violence, gore, sex, cartel--more fabulous characters, great dialogue, complex criminals. Thanks for the suggestion.

Julia Garner-- We saw her in Waco (one of Koresh's teen wives) and in the Americans (a young teen daughter of an American official; she is used by Phillip Jennings to get important information). She could easily have been given an award for either of those roles.

On another note-- Beta brought us only rainy days-- nice slow rain; not like Houston's floods-- and finally some slightly cooler weather.

Paul--Somehow racing around a box endlessly seems so much more terrible than being knocked over by the top step...at least there you got two steps in.

The Americans! I keep forgetting to peek at that highly-recommended show. Thanks for the reminder.

Glad to hear storm Beta had a weak bite.

Just binge watched "Dirty John" on Netflix. It's one of those "Based on Truth" dramas with decent enough acting and close enough to the truth that it's not ridiculous. Wealthy four-time married mother is seeing a new guy that her two daughters (in their twenties) HATE. Julia Garner plays one of the daughters. At first it's really a secondary role but she gets more important in the last few episodes.
