Curious, what are you watching while the world spins around us?

What's your favorite thing about it? Does it help you get through?

The Golden Globes awards are out. Very odd to watch them "appear" at the awards via Zoom.

Surely you are in dire need of fresh viewing material, or assurance that what you are watching is award-worthy. So I will post the Golden Globe winners, in a bit.

Golden Globes Nominees and Winners, Women:

Jodie Foster won best supporting actress for The Mauritanian.

I haven't heard of it. Anyone seen it? Got any news? They called her win a "major upset" which must be so, since she was online in her pajamas when the win was announced, and seemed genuinely stunned. (Compared to attending the Golden Globes in your pajamas, and other Covid-days new normals, like broadcasting from your home closet, Tom Hanks jumping on Oprah's couch seems no-biggie).

Glenn Close nominated for Hillbilly Elegy
Amanda Seyfried for Mank
Olivia Colman The Father

Nominees for Best Actress:
Viola Davis Ma Rainey's Black Bottom (Have you seen it? Riveting fantastic!)
Vanessa Kirby for Pieces of a Woman
Frances McDormand for Nomadland
Carey Mulligan for Promising Young Woman

Andra Day won for The United States vs. Billie Holiday.
Rosamund Pike won Best Actress for comedy, "I Care A Lot" (dark comedy, plays an "exquisitely nasty" swindler). Also stars Peter Dinklage, for Game of Thrones fans.

Well, it might - he's a lot bigger than the other one. ;D

You got me there. :)

But we gotta say "these times" make practically anything before "these times" seem normal. Eh?

According to IMDB, Paul, you are right!
They say
Jack Nicholson is #1.
Anthony Hopkins is #8.
Michael Caine isn't in the top ten of this list, but he's been nominated for an Oscar award in every decade since the 1960s...

I think Ian McKellen should be in there, but isn't.
Tom Cruise isn't in the top ten. He's among the richest though, so maybe he doesn't care. I donno when his newest Mission Impossible is coming out. He was in Italy filming it when the pandemic hit Italy so hard, last year.

Michael Caine is famous for never turning down a role unless he has a schedule conflict, so he's been in a lot of dreck. He's always good, but that lowers the average quality of his movies and probably to some degree his reputation.

That's really interesting, about Michael Caine. Love those tidbits.

It seems like I remember something like that re Jimmy Stewart? He was in everything for a while, and didn't mind taking the Fall Guy role. Then there was that talking to giant rabbits, thing.

'Return to Dunblane with Lorraine Kelly'. It was broadcast last Thursday on ITV.

It's about the anniversary 25 years ago of the massacre of 15 children and their teacher that occurred on 13th March 1996 in the small town of Dunblane in Scotland by a crazed marksman called Thomas Hamilton who took the cowards way out and shot himself.

One of the victims was a lad called Brett McKinnon who was only six when that monster took his life.

His gravestone reads:
'When I was one I had just begun.
When I was two I was nearly new.
When I was four I was not much more.
When I was five I was barely alive.
But now I am six, I'm as clever as clever.
So I think I'll be six now forever and ever'.

It breaks my heart reading that. Those poor little babies,

It's a documentary series. Bits of it are currently on YouTube.

One of the children sheltering in that school was Andy Murray.

The shooting was the turning point in the change in British gun law.
