Curious, what are you watching while the world spins around us?

What's your favorite thing about it? Does it help you get through?

"Wentworth" sounds a bit like "Orange is the New Black."

Just watched a film on Netflix about Vietnam War............nothing unusual in that...........but this film called "Danger Close" IS different to all other films about Vietnam..........it features AUSTRALIAN troops, not American.
Excellent film IMO.

@terraorca I've never seen 'Orange is the New Black'. I've read the plot on wiki and it says it is a comedy/drama.

'Wentworth' has its comedy moments, with a character called Boomer. But it can be ultra violent. Some scenes have had me hiding behind my fingers!

I read the book "Orange is the New Black." It was made into a series on a Premium Cable Channel that I had never seen. The book was not a comedy.

I watched OITNB for about 3/4 of S1. It was OK, but becoming redundant and predictable so I stopped.
If this dang virus doesn't let up after our current five week "house arrest", I may go back to it.

I'm surprised also, that OistheNB is listed as a comedy. I can't remember anything funny. Like Paul I stopped watching after a season. Recently I'm interested in "Prison Break". Seen one episode so far.

Sure agree re your mention of "Wentworth"-- there are some shows that are incredibly gory and violent yet the acting is stellar and the plot fabulous--Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Handmaid's Tale, Stranger Things and many others. I think HItchcock was the supreme director though, able to terrify us out of our wits, without direct display of the violence. Amazing.

I heard about the Aussie Vietnam show! There's high praise for it. Pretty soon they'll do something crazy like portrayal of other countries besides Germany, the US, Britain and France fighting in WWII.

FatherSteve--did you hear that in fact actually there's a 3rd Beasts in the making? If so I'd be so interested in how they are managing to film it.

'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 3 is going to build up to a "massive war", Dan Fogler has promised. So, that recent release date delay? It'll probably be worth it.
...

'Unfortunately, it's not all promising news, as Dan also confirmed that the recent lockdown amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has halted filming for the upcoming sequel.

'"We're just waiting," he said. "I guess when everybody else starts, when the mechanism starts to move again and everybody starts to get back to work, that's when we'll get back to work.

'"Hopefully, sooner than later."

...

'Before production was put on hold, it was confirmed that Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be moving to an entirely different location with its third film, switching New York City and Paris for Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

'Fantastic Beasts 3 is scheduled for release on November 12, 2021.'

ah, bummer on Beasts. The Handmaid's Tale likewise season 4 slated for 2021. And Better Call Saul I believe. But FatherSteve, and everyone, if you like "Lucifer" the new season got in before the pandemic so it begins 21 Aug 2020.
Summary of show:
Lucifer escaped from his Kingdom in order to enjoy himself on Earth, but instead teams up with police detectives to "punish" wrongdoers, and finds he is good at it. He has issues with his "Father", and feels greatly misunderstood. Over time he develops more "human" emotion and compassion. He's of course intensely charming, self-oriented and spoiled. The show is overall witty, silly, and thought-provoking. Guys may find Lucifer himself less fascinating than women do? But his co-detectives are wonderful characters. Did I mention he goes to therapy? He plays piano and sings rather well.

Ronnie O'Sullivan, 8-4 down to Mark Williams, comes back to win 13-10. That's my two week run of snooker every year, late this one due to the virus. Provided some of the best matches of all time over the years.

Fascinating discussion on national public radio, by the director of the new hit movie "Old Guard". She said it's been near impossible for a woman to get a director's job to do a superhero movie, and then when she landed it, she wanted to change the way women superheros are portrayed in a fight. Not as sexy gals in a cat fight; nor as woman who can do what men do (like pick up a man and toss him, she gave as an example). She said the hero of Old Guard is trained in the woman's marine style of fight, and that's what she does in the film. Very different from how male superheros fight.

I didn't know marines had their own hand-to-hand fight style. Never mind the female version. Never mind superhero marine version. Interesting.

Thanks Paul. You remind me to get back to Prison Break. I liked it but have seen only the first episode.

"Watchmen" on HBO has won a handful of awards. Is that superheros? Could they swing by present-day Earth for a minute?

FatherSteve: I believe it was Taste the Nation I was thinking of, way back in this thread. I heard the lady chef talking about her new show on the radio. It sounds like world travel, stopping to eat with the locals. Padma Lakshmi. Maybe just US travel "exploring diverse food culture".

Seen it?

I bingewatched 5 Seasons of Billions in a Week. Now I'm caught up halfway through a season and it ended on a cliffhanger, only to return who knows when due to the pandemic. I liked the show. I don't know why I never watched it when it came out (2016) because I love Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis.

Now I am on the hunt for either a new Legal Drama or Period Piece.

Billions, great reminder! Two stellar actors, often overlooked.

When you find a new show stop by and tell us about it.
There are some wonderful suggestions in our lists here, too.

I just saw the movie "Mr Pip" starring Hugh Laurie. It's got a very distressing spot or three, but it's also exquisitely beautiful. Based on true events.

Wiki:
Il Processo' or 'The Trial', created by Alessandro Fabbri, focuses on the titular trial following the murder of a 17-year-old girl, Angelica Petroni.

Season one is reviewed as a "visual treat" exciting and "binge-worthy".

Thanks, Masfon. :)

I viewed a film last night on Netflix called "Errementari". It's a Basque language horror/supernatural film that I found to be quite good.
